Tremerica's Parliament

How It Works

Tremerica is divided into sections called ridings. In each riding any citizen over 16 years old is able to vote for any candidate he or she chooses. The winning candidate goes to the parliament located in the capital (Yonkers Dale). In parliament the MPs (Members of Parliament) introduce, debate and pass or decline bills. What passes instantly becomes law. Tremerica elects their senators and has elections in parliament every two years. There are 200 seats in parliament, and this number grows every ten years due to population changes.

History of Parliament

After Con Signor's death his brother, whom Signor appointed to rule after his death, decided to allow for democratic reform. 2004 was mainly a dictatorship of Chad Signor while the parliament buildings were built. From 2005 to 2009 the Independent Socialist Party and the Worker's Trust Party won majority governments and passed communist legislation. It wasn't until 2007 when the Conservative Environmentalists started to win a significant amount of seats, and then in 2009 they won a minority government. Allying themselves with the Conservative Liberal Party they passed legislation that privatized businesses and focused on preserving the rainforests. In 2011 an election caused the Conservative Environmentalists to lose 38 seats and the Independent Socialist Party gained 54. However, the Worker's Trust Party won the minority government and sought out to abolish the rainforests to rebuild the economy. The Conservative Environmentalists then formed a coalition with the Independent Socialist Party and formed a majority. Since then there have been numerous elections and the coalition government, Socialist Environmentalist, has held onto their power.

The following is the History of Parliament, with the leaders name after the winning party.
