Tuathan Silver is a material created by the Tuatha de Danaan. The Tuatha left deposits of this material in the Resurgent Dream, both in the form of ancient and usually magical artifacts and in raw deposits of the metal left buried in the earth. However much their might be, this is the limit. Now that the Tuatha have left, there is no power in the world which can create true Tuathan Silver.

Any scientific analysis will reveal Tuathan Silver to be identical to regular Silver. It has the same density, the same melting point, the same boiling point, the same number of protons and electrons, and the same atomic weight as the regular element of Silver. Tuathan Silver even has the same number of neutrons as the regular element. It is not an isotope.

Visually, Tuathan Silver is more aesthetically pleasing than normal Silver. It gives an impression of shining rather brightly in almost any light. However, Tuathan Silver does not produce light nor does it produce the kind of preternatual beauty possessed by the Sidhe. It does, however, tend to appear as idealized shining armor or shining blades and is thus preferential to regular Silver for ceremonial occasions. For this reason, it has been compared to the Elven material of mithril. However, this comparison is simply that. There is no similarity in the inner nature of the two metals.

Tuathan Silver has all the supernatural effects ofSilver. In other words, breeds of vampires, werewolves, or other supernatural beings which have a negative reaction to Silver will have an identical reaction to Tuathan Silver. Magic spells requiring Silver work just as well with Tuathan Silver as well.

Tuathan Silver is harder than Silver and roughly as hard as steel. This means that Tuathan Silver weapons and armor serve as well as steel weapons and armor in ordinary battle.

The Silver Paths on the trods, which protect wanderers in the dreaming from being overwhelmed by the chaos of the region or attacked by servants of the Fomorians is made of Tuathan Silver, as is the Silver Ban which prevents the Fomorians from ever again coming in person into the world.

The most noteworthy use of Tuathan Silver is its ability to harm Fomorians. A Fomorian struck by a Tuathan Silver weapon will react as a mortal or Fae would if struck by a steel weapon of the same type. This is true even unto death. Fomorians are also bound by Tuathan Silver chains and stopped by Tuathan Silver armor. It is commonly believed that Tuathan Silver would have the same effect on other god-like beings as it does on Fomorians. However, this has yet to be tested.
