Turinian Military
Overview
Due to its democratic and pacifist nature, the Free County of Turinas does not consider the military its primary tool of diplomacy and international relations. However, because of its military history prior to independance, it is not short of volunteers and it is supplied welle nough, although it is considered out of date by modern standards.
Leadership
The military of Turinas is governed by the Military Minister, Hon. Francis Wedderby, and Lord Marshall Michael Darnder. The latter is responsible for the tactical organisation and deployment of the military, while the Military Minister controls the finance and welfare.
Below these high commanders there are the leaders of the Five Branches of the Turinas Military, and below them are other ranks as found in most military organisations.

The Army
Leadership and Organisation
The Army is led by Gen. Marcus Kerj. Beneath him, the Infantry is commanded by Lord Gen. Theodore Uhfer, and the Armour by Gen. David McKhuire.
Infantry regiments consist of 2,000 Soldiers, with 1 Sergeant per 10 Privates, 1 Lieutenant per 10 Sergeants and 1 Captain per 10 Lieutenants (or 100 Sergeants/ 1,000 Privates). There si one Major per regiment as Second-In-Command, and a Colonel leads a regiment. A General leads 10 Regiments during war time.
Armour regiments consist of 2 large transporters capable of holding 100 men (known as 'Rolling Castles' among the men, or technically 'Turiniak Mk 1s', or TNAK), 500 jeeps, 300 light tanks, 150 heavy tanks and 5 APCs. There are also 500 Personelle. A Sergeant is in charge of a vechile (APCs, Tanks, Jeeps), or a section of a vechile (Turiniaks). Lieutenants control 10 vechiles or a Turiniak. Captains control 100 Sergeants (APCs, Tanks, Jeeps) or 2 Turiniaks. The Major is in charge of the entirety of the APCs, Tanks and Jeeps, while the Colonel leads the regiment. A General leads all war-time armour regiments.
The Infantry
The Infantry of Turinas are split into two groups. Most of the infantry serve in the Rifle Regiments, while one regiment per county (and occassioanlly province) serve as Halberdiers. Their uniforms are white with red trimmings, and black trousers. They usually don camouflage in appropriate wars, however.
Halberdiers
A very old tradition in Turinas is that every county maintains a regiment of Halberdiers to take part in the defence of the realm. Since the independance, however, they have stopped being a miltia and seen action on the frontline, in those cases taking up rifles. While soem see thme as basically the same as the Rifle Regiments at these times, they are normally relegated to defence work, and still prefer to engage the enemy in close combat.
Riflers
Armed with the SA80, the Rifles are what one would expect from a modern infantry regiment, althoguh in Turinas they are expected to pride accuracy above all, and about 1 in 5 troops are armed with a Sniper Rifle.
The Armour
The Armour is fairly underfunded, even compared to the rest of the nation. The majority of all vechiles held by the Armour are transports, with escorts of light tanks, and several heavy tanks per regiment, not to mention the various armoured cars.
The Freedom Fighters
Leadership and Organisation
The FF is led by Col. Frank Uyter, who commands various 'detatchments' led by Captains. A detatchment consists of around 10 Diplomats and 50 Fighters, as well as 200 Bodyguards.
Purposes
According to the legislation that founded the FFs, their purpose is to enforce the rights of humanity abroad, and assist struggling socialist nations agains the oppression of dictatorships.
Diplomats
When war is first declared, the Diplomats are sent to try and establish a peace treaty with the enemy. they attempt to gain freedom for the country they represent through a series of negotiations.
Fighters
Only when no peaceful agreement can be made are the Fighters sent in. They attempt to bring down the enemy government with minimal casualties caused to the innocent. The usual method is to assassinate the enemy leader, although occassionally the entire government or royal family must be destroyed, or incarcerated for questioning.
Bodyguards
As well as protecting the diplomats, bodyguards also aim to maintain law and order with the nation they are staying in. Bodyguards are armoured in full riot gear, and are equipped with pistols, batons and tasers.
Leadership and Organisation
The Navy is led by Lord Admiral Henry Degull. The Navy is split into Fleets, of which there are 10, one for each County, though they are all based in Esturia (mostly at Port Gourteka). A Fleet is controlled by an Admiral, and a large ship by a Captain. A Captain also controls a group of 10 smaller ships. A smaller ship is controlled by a Lieutenant, of which there is also one per large ship as second-in-command. On each smaller ship there is a First Mate as second in command.
Strength
While the actual size of the navy is much larger, there are only 20,000 men actually serving as sailors at any one time. The rest are employed as maintenance workers and logistics staff. There are 2,000 men in each fleet.
Ships
Turininiks (Floating Fortresses)
There is one Floating Fortress in every fleet. A Turininik has a crew of 500, and a passenger capacity of 2,000 (the passengers are required to assist in basic ship maintenance, however). A TNNK (as they are known) has a large amount of weaponry. It is easily the most up to date ship at Turinas' control.

The other ships include: Jurenzin- 100 per fleet, crew of 10, few weapons, passenger capacity of 50 Zutekat- 10 per fleet, crew of 25, medium amount of weapons, vulnerable to sinking, no passenger capacity Kakteun- 2 per fleet, crew of 100, difficult to sink, passenger capacity of 200, no weapons, very slow Makyahtt- 2 per fleet, crew of 150, very fast, few weapons, passenger capacity of 50.
