The Union of Confederal Universities is an organization of universities in the Confederated Peoples, including the University of the Confederation and almost all Member public universities. The UCU is a recognized accrediting agency in the Confederated Peoples, certified by the Department of Infrastructure as a reliable authority as to the quality of education provided by a given institution of higher learning. It is also independently recognized as such by the education departments or ministries of 111 of the 129 Members. In addition to accrediting universities, the UCU:

  • Organizes cooperative programs between universities, facilitating temporary student exchanges, research cooperation and joint educational programs
  • Organizes a tuition exchange program whereby the children of university employees at any participating university receive a full or partial tuition waiver at any other participating university provided they otherwise qualify for admission
  • Organizes conferences and seminars regarding university administration, higher education and other topics related to the functioning and management of universities
  • Awards project specific grants
  • Administers a student exchange program with foreign universities
  • Administers a variety of scholarship programs

The highest body of the UCU is the General Conference which consists of representatives of all member universities as well as of the departments of ministries of education in all 129 Members and of the Confederal Department of Infrastructure. The General Conference meets once annually to discuss business, formulate policies and elect an Administrative Council to oversee the day-to-day affairs of the UCU until the next session of the General Conference.
