The University of Burnaby (UB) is a large public research university in Kelssek. It is consistenly rated as one of Kelssek's top universities with strong ratings for overall quality of education, and is well-regarded for its scientific research and language programs, having one of the largest centres for the study of East Pacific languages. It is a leading research centre for physics and linguistics as well as natural sciences. It boasts Kelssek's second-largest research library. It attracts a particularly large number of international students, leading it to bill itself as "Kelssek's Global University".
Established by passage of the Burnaby University Act in the provincial legislature in 1890, The university's main campus is at Point Grey, 30km south of downtown Burnaby, and the 14.13 km² endownment lands of the university border Lakeshore Provincial Park. It has a satellite campus in downtown Burnaby, and another campus in the town of Surrey.
