Overview

The Usagi class is regarded by many to be the greatest of Bryn Shander's second generation designs. With heavy firepower, a large strike craft compliment, and excellent firing angles, the Usagi was a very well rounded warship.

Though initially classified as a battlecruiser, the Usagi class was later redesignated as a heavy cruiser. The ships of the Usagi class were often the flagships of mid-sized fleets, and as squadron leaders in larger fleets. However, vessels of the class took part in many non-combat missions, such as when the Usagi class cruiser Luna provided transportaion for the empress of Edolia when she was rescued by New Havenic special forces after being kidnapped and held in Yazmarea.

Currently, several Usagis and their fleets are stationed at Asherton and Stanley under the command of the New Havenic Imperatrix Sara I until the New Havenic navy is rebuilt. The rest of the ships in the class are being converted into police cutters.

A total of 108 ships of the class were built during the life of the design.
