The Democratic Republic of Eagmont

The Democratic Republic of Eagmont was founded in 1767, when Captain Henry Eagmont landed on Oban Beach, just 10 km away from where the Parliament Buildings stand today. He bought with him our nations beloved animal, the Kiwi (a native import from New Zealand).

Captain Henry did not stay for long. He left his 1000 immigrants to live on the lucious tree infested land. The mountains around Oban (the first town/city they settled), were large, and mostly volcanic. The Immigrants did not have any idea of what was beyond those mountains, but soon found out when the wars started.

The Eagmont Peoples War

The Eagmont Peoples (as they have been known for quite some time) were beyond those mountainous volcanoes. They had ruled the country for many 1000's of years, and quite the same as the English People, the Eagmont People had never reached beyond the volcanoes. The First Prime Minister (see the leaders part), Sir John Fowler, was part of the 500 men and boys that travelled the entire mountain range, and when they got over, they were met by the small army from the Eagmont Peoples side. Thus began an 100 year war with the Eagmont Peoples, at the expense of 1,500 English men (they came later), and 10,000 Eagmont Peoples' men.

The Eagmont Treaty

The Eagmont Treaty, which was signed on April the 25th, 1890, was the first document that was signed in the Eagmont History. On that day two significant things happend, 1. Prime Minister James Newton was elected the first ever whole country Prime Minister 2. Parliament had its first Native MP, Jolanda Hinkipunk

1900-2000

Eagmont wasd a very dorment, well mannered country, with a modest population of 10 Million in 1900, through to 51 Million in 2000, and was still growing.

Great Prime Ministers of the Time were:

Hon. Graham Bell (NAT*)- He stood when he was 32, then again when he was 50, and then the last time was when he was 69! He was the Prime Minister that brought in the Anti Terror laws after an attempt to destroy Oban Airport, the worlds 3rd busiest airport.

Hon. James Newton (NAT*)- He was the First Prime Minister that the whole Country voted for. He was first the Democrats leader, then when he was kicked out, he went and created the National Party. He died in office, when he was 70 years of age. He was the man who created the Treaty that made Eagmont Peoples and the English peoples one peoples.

Hon. Catherine James (NAT*)- She was the First ever (in the whole world) Women Prime Minister. She lead our Country through the Economic Crash in 1923, but she was the manufacturer of the Cenomics (used by the National Party, and the Democrats to this day) that saw our country go through huge economic booms whenever National or the Democrats (Democrats only after 1986) was in power.

Hon. Malcolm McRae (LIB)- The only Liberal on this list, but he fixed his party from their 10% party vote fall in 1990 (after Stuart Nash (LIB) borught in the 50% tax payment), to a wopping 57% in 1994. Malcolm also was the Minister for Defence and Finance, and slowly fixed our contries economic problems.

Eagmont Parliament, Parties, and Prime Ministers

Eagmont has an Australian-Like Government, A House of Representatives (or a Senate), and a The Upper House (were the main debating happens). The Senate controls the States or Provinces, where money from The Upper House gets given to each state. The States have a "Govenor", who is elected every 5 years (with the Upper House Elections).

The Govenor can come from any of the 2 main parties, although it is unlikley to happen, they may also come from other parties (smaller parties).

The Govenor is in control of what happens in the state, but the Prime Minister is the other alternative if the State doesnt decide who is the Govenor.

The Upper House (known by Most Countries as teh Hosue Of Commons), is where the parties debate the country issues. Each party is allocated a percentage of the 100 seats avaliable, depending on what the country votes. If one party does not get an outright majority, then the party with the most votes may team up in a "coalition" with other parties (usually from the same side of the political spectrum) to create a 51% majority. There are 6 major/minor parties, 2 of which are the big parties
