Please don't link every occurence of a word or name. I removed those duplicate links from Pyrus for a reason - it looks sloppy, and it doesn't follow the style guide suggestions. Please don't use bracketed links as highlighting tools - that's not what they're there for. Link the FIRST appearance of name or other article, and leave the rest normal text. → Fris Θtalk 16:19, 4 Dec 2004 (GMT)

creating new categories

Re: Sword of Valor and Category:Weapons: Please review the Category creation guidelines at the Village pump before creating any more new categories. I would also appreciate it if you and the rest of the GCON players would do a bit more reading of help and style guides, and a bit less of adding randomness and GCON elements to the wiki. It seems like I've been spending half my time on here lately following you guys around and fixing stuff, and I'd really rather not. Over 500 users managed to figure it out without a lot of help - is it too much to ask the same of you, Tyrantis, and Kontrasena? You're all school buddies in Michigan, right? I'd appreciate it if you'd all get a feel of how we do things before adding more stuff. → Fris Θtalk 01:31, 6 Dec 2004 (GMT)

signing posts in-character

It's probably best not to sign your page as a character (Pyrus). On NSwiki, you are not your character, you are the player behind the character. This is not an RP site, it's an encylopedia of RP information. See below for all the good reasons to work from within an NSwiki account.

Welcome to NSwiki, the NationStates encyclopedia! You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on NSwiki, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires you to provide no personal information, and gives you many benefits, including:

  • The use of a username of your choice
  • The ability to view all your contributions via a "My contributions" link
  • Your own user page
  • Your own talk page which, if you choose, also allows users to send you emails without knowing your e-mail address
  • The use of your own personal watchlist to which you can add articles that interest you
  • The ability to rename pages
  • The ability to customize the appearance and behaviour of the website
  • The eligibility to become an Administrator or Sysop (can delete and undelete pages, protect them from being edited, edit protected pages, and block users for violation of our policies)
  • The right to be heard in formal votes and elections, and on pages like NSwiki:Deletion

You can create an account as Lord Pyrus if you want - my point was that you are linking me to an article, not a User page. You really should create an account and log in. Linking to nation pages doesn't do anything for anyone. All the instructions are just above this post. → Fris Θtalk 02:30, 7 Dec 2004 (GMT)
