Thanks

I saw that you pruned off those pages I aggregated. Thanks for the work. :)

Improved?

Tried to prune down both legnth and self-referential chatter on the main page; is it any better now?

Re: Deletion Policy

I'm...not sure. You could ask again at the talk page, possibly. I have in the past deleted pages edited only by one IP user, where deletion thereof was requested, and it's usually clear. As for a time limit, I think 5-7 days. Gruen2alk 19:27, 12 January 2006 (GMT)

These templates work in Wikipedia:

I tried implementing them in NSwiki as well, but failed. Care to look at this? You seem experienced.

Re: Major linkspam

Well, let's run through each IP and see whether they did it anywhere else. But yeah, I would still suggest blocking everyone that linkspammed. Thanks for catching it. (( Pacitalkia )) Time sent: 00:07, 22 January 2006 (GMT)

Re: Re: Major linkspam

Nah, we don't really have an official policy, but I just give infinite bans because I don't like linkspammers. Really, it's just whether or not you're feeling charitable. ;) (( Pacitalkia )) Time sent: 03:04, 22 January 2006 (GMT)

Create "National animal" article?

Unless I've missed in in the Gameplaying category, I don't think there is currently an article for national animal like there is for currency, motto and other customisable fields. I noticed its absence when I created an article called Sober Thought national symbols and wanted to do an internal link.

Does it exist yet? If it doesn't, shall I just go ahead and call it "National animal"? "Motto" stands on its own well, but somehow "Animal" doesn't quite communicate as clearly.

BTW, I've noticed a small number of people have added their parties to the generic parties disambigs (e.g., Socialist Party) so the placeholder strategy for high value article names seems to be working.

Your IDU comrade,

National anthem article (not category) too?

Oops, as I was polishing my draft for my own article, I also discovered there is a category National anthems but no article National anthem.

Some of the general crap, er, content, I put in my own article might sensibly belong there. Basically, what makes a good national anthem and why music and lyrics can cause problems. Could also do a survey like the currency one to see how many anthems are actually new.

Does this fly too?

Kind of you to try to help!

Thanks for your note on my "talk" page (User_talk:Ruventsoria). If Pacitalia had explained like that, instead of condemning me for not knowing that info, perhaps some of the headaches I was put through wouldn't have happened.

However, at the present time, my articles have been removed but the associated "talk" pages remain, and no-one seems willing/able to tell me how to request their removal. The page you pointed me to (NSwiki:Deletion_policy) seems to me to deal with removing articles, not "talk" pages.

Do you believe that adding {{delete}} tags to the "talk" pages is the way to go? Or should we wait for Gruenberg2 to respond to my question on his "talk" page (User_talk:Gruenberg2)? Ruventsoria 06:10, 24 January 2006 (GMT)

Your HDI

Okay, so I tried it out using both my RPed GDP/C and the NSEconomy stat. Both times I got a number higher than 1.000, which is, of course, impossible. I'm going to try again, but I have a feeling either the numbers are shockingly correct or I'm doing something horribly wrong. I followed your logarithmic formulae to the tee, don't fret. ;) (( Pacitalkia )) Time sent: 00:56, 30 January 2006 (GMT)

EDIT: I figured it out. Your formula discriminates against privatised healthcare systems and semi-privatised education ;) That's why my numbers are so low now. I got a math expert into help and when we figured out the right way to do it, I got .462. So, I have to find the figures for my privatised healthcare sector's spending along with the education, which is about 80% private funded. (( Pacitalkia )) Time sent: 01:43, 30 January 2006 (GMT)
EDIT2: Did it and got .984, so basically I was right on the money with my unmathy estimate from before. (( Pacitalkia )) Time sent: 01:52, 30 January 2006 (GMT)

Broken Small Tag

What page is this on exactly? I checked the most recent and there is a "/". Owain talk

Thanks for the heads up anyway and thanks for fixing it. Owain 22:34, 4 February 2006 (GMT)

Re:IPA troubles

Thanks for your work trying to sort that for me - unfortunately I still have troubles seeing IPA fonts for some stupid reason. It's strange, I'm sure we do have templates here designed to mimic the ones on Wikipedia - I'm just confused why they work there but not here? Perhaps it can't be helped - like I say, thanks for your time anyway.

While I am here though, I was wondering about problems trying to get images resized - I thought the recent update may have changed things but it looks like no sadly - but I'd dearly love to get this feature to work, so am willing to investigate what really makes it work on other Wiki sites but not on this one - if that's okay?

Cheers again

--ZedderZulu 12:43, 8 February 2006 (GMT)

EDIT: Hi again - thanks for clearing up the pictures for me - but I still have a problem (you're gonna really like me after all this!)
When ever I try and show a resized image, I get this message
Warning: shell_exec(): Cannot execute using backquotes in Safe Mode in /mounted-storage/home2/sub003/sc434/ns/wiki/includes/Image.php on line 1037

I also get that on the image galery. Is it just me?--ZedderZulu 10:48, 10 February 2006 (GMT)

Ref template

Hey again

I'm trying to create the effect of the Ref and Note templates from wikipedia - now I've done the code for the note template and that seems to work fine - however I try the same with the ref template and I get something completely different. The original code is

<span class="reference">[{{fullurl:{{FULLPAGENAME}}}}#endnote_{{{1}}}]</span>

Unfortunately all I get on NSWiki as a result is:

[1]

Which basically just doens't work. I tried adjusting it myself but haven't got the desired effect - is there any way to work around this?

Thanks once again

Thanks

Thanks for fixing the links in the Calculators (nation) article. As I said, I chose to put the statistics calculators on the page because they're more linked, and it probably would've taken more work to redirect every link to the page than to do what you did to fix the links. Once again, thank you very much LA Ice 07:37, 20 February 2006 (GMT)

I accepted the adminship nomination --Swilatia (Not Swilly!!) 22:49, 24 February 2006 (GMT)

Your revised HDI figures

I adjusted my own figure, but I hope that isn't too much trouble. I got the same figures as you did without using my RPed stats, but the RPed stats are the ones I use (i.e. my private education and healthcare spending, since those systems are privatised). Plus, even though this may sound arrogant or whatever, there's no way Pacitalia could realistically be that low unless we DID have no spending on healthcare and education, except for what NSEconomy says. I *did* use Panto's spreadsheet to figure out the new number, if you were wondering. Anyway, all's well from this end. If you have a concern, message me back.
