The Vanek'ians lost 2-1 to Vephrall yesterday. This very disappointing loss was expected to be a win as the first game between these teams was a tie of 0-0. And the Vanek'ians have rolled off two good games in a row. Not now. Vephrall scored two goals to rocket out in front and the goalkeeping was phenomenal by the Vephrallians. The Vanek'ians did play poorly, missing easy shots and passes. The Vephrallians managed to commit to their chances.

The Vanek'ian Times!

World Cup 37!

Yay! The World Cup 37 is now underway, with the VDB National Team now playing for their first time! Not many people know about this team outside the VDB, after a disappointing finish, 3rd in their group, just missing the quaterfinals, in the 24th Baptism of Fire tourney. Here is who is expected to start for the first match:

Strikers: Thomas Vanek and Ryan Carbon Halfbacks: Chris Drury, Daniel Briere, Ryan Getzlaf, and Eric Belanger Fullbacks: Zane Grey, Ryan Miller, Timothy Connolly, and Paul Pierce Goalkeeper: David Mattel

The player to watch out for is Thomas Vanek, who enters this game with 10 straight games with goals in the Vanek'ian National Soccer League (VNSC) playing for Granderson FC. The schedule is:

Match Day #1: VDB vs. Sel Appa: The organizers of the Baptism of Fire tourney, the VDB will definitely be the underdogs. Match Day #2: VDB vs. Vephrall: Who are these people? Match Day #3: VDB vs. Kansiov: Foreign relations have never gone well between these two countries, and they will be at a lot of strain during this match. Match Day #4: VDB vs. Az-cz: How do you pronounce this? Must be in their own tongue. Match Day #5: VDB vs. Estresse Intenso: Sounds like an intense game... we'll see. Match Day #6: VDB vs. British Londinium: A little vs. a big. British Londinium, the nation-crushing country, will face off against what appears to be in comparision the tiny Vanek'ian team. Match Day #7: VDB vs. Naleloospalakintula: Huh? And it repeats for Match Days 8-14.

TIE?

Boring Game ends up in Stunning Score

The Vanek'ian team continued their goalless tournament yesterday, as a stunning 0-0 tie with Vephrall did not do anything to their position. Overall, it was a boring game, with the midfielders kicking it to each other, and a couple of penetrating attacks. However, it was good experience for the young Vanek'ian team. An interesting point was a possible fight brimming over that was stopped before it could happen in the 43rd minute, but yellow cards given out as a warning. Statistical Overview:

Not Again!

"We need to step up," says Coach

The Vanek'ians continued their losing ways yesterday, as a disappointing loss to Kansiov disappointed fans across the nation. 3-1 was the score, with Thomas Vanek scoring the lone marker for the VDB at 10, after a nasty penalty on the Kansiovian keeper, earning him a red card. He pushed down Vanek in the pursuit of the ball, and a pretty big bruise to Vanek's leg required he be taken out. 3 other Kansiovian players scored afterwards at 15, 60, and 89. At the press conference following the game, Coach Andrew Kennedy stated, "We are ashamed of ourshelves. We need to win a game, and step up. Eat our dust, Group 8!"

Thomas Vanek is expected to be back in action for the next game healthy.

Is that it?

The simple headline does not indicate the seriousness of the matter. The 2-0 loss to Az-cz looks like the next round is gone to the VDB. Seoula Vitakiralski took care of the Vanek'ians dreams, scoring two goals, both in the second half. The score is misleading. The VDB was playing gallantly, and so was Az-cz. But Az-cz got the breaks. The corner kick that was blown by the wind, and the shot that deflected off Vanek'ian defender . But the Az-czs won, and the Vanek'ians continue to be winless and with one goal. The only good part about this season was the fact that so many young players got experience for the next World Cup. This was the cleaness game the Vanek'ians have been in yet.

Striker Thomas Vanek, age 16, shows plenty of promise, scoring the only goal in the World Cup for the Vanek'ians, but showed his injury from the Kansiovian game may still affect his performance. He was substituted in the 70th minute. The trainer was optimistic about him, however, predicting he will be 100% for the next game vs.

The Fans have given up hope

It's true. The fans of the Vanek'ian soccer team are starting to lose faith as the VDB team suffered their 5th straight non-win game. A 3-0 loss to Etresso Intenso doesn't exactly boot up your confidence. There isn't much to say. The Vanek'ians looked lost out there as Etresso just simply outplayed them.

Will This Ever End?

Another game, another loss. This time a slaughter. British Londinium beat our Vanek'ians 5-1. An early goal by Thomas Vanek scored the only goal for us, cementing the belief that he is the future of the VDB Soccer Organization. It was quite an interesting game, though dominated by British Londinium. Loyal fans of the VDB have to ask themselves this question: Will we ever win?

Oh My Gosh!

Vanek'ian Team caught on fire!

The VDB team followed up their amazing 3-0 win over Naleloospalakintula with a 2-3 loss over Sel Appa. The amazing part was this game wasn't even expected to be close by Vanek'ian media. Thomas Vanek continued his outstanding tourney with 2 goals, one in each half. Felipe Romney also played an outstanding game, he just couldn't get those very hard shots. The Vanek'ians were outplayed, but they still managed to score. We here in the VDB are very proud of our team!

However, Felipe Romney's protest in the 78th minute against Pattete's game-winner showed that the star keeper needs to work on his sportsmanship. It was very close, as Pattete shot it and Romney deflected it. Instant replay showed the ball had just crossed the line. Romney protested, earning himself a yellow card.
