Vellos comes from an ancient language, belonging to people who first lived in the PEEL region, in particular around the Morbo Strait, well over four thousand years ago. It was then thought to have altered drastically at the time of the Urallian occupation of the Morbo Strait, where the Vellos people, awe-struck by the civilisation of the Urallians, chose to mimic it, by "Uralifying" their own customs, laws, society and language. This sadly meant that most of the original way of life, that had existed for millennia prior to the arrival of the Urallians, was left to largely die, and while the Urallians themselves faded away, the Vellos went against convention and kept hold of what the Urallians had given them. The language has changed little since then, though at various points has made slight alterations, so in essence it looks like a mix-match of Zlevic, Anglosian and ancient Vellos. For a while, Vellos was the joint Official Language of the new defunct Wells-Ville but has remained official language of Vellsandia and thus one of the official languages of the Union of Soviet Tschazanovite Republics
