History

Venemon, which translates to 'poison' or 'venom' in latin, was born of Civil War. The Territory which it now occupies is more or less the province of Perdidi in the Republic of Arla. During the great internal strife, the forces of Arla (the Grand Republican Army) fought to quell the rebel uprising (Confederate forces) in the largest war in the nation's history. In the end, the Confederacy lost, it's general's surrendering five years after war was declared.

However, one general, Alastair Farquhar, who was badly wounded a week before the signing of the peace treaty, was unconsious during the surrender. When he learned of the Confederate generals 'betrayal', he staged a coup in the capital of his home province (Perdidi). Using a prototype WMD with which he had intended to win the war, Farquhar obliterated the surrounding territories, leaving a scorched wasteland of radiation seperating Perdidi from the rest of the country. With half of the Republic destroyed, Arla soon fell victim to nearby, power-hungry nations who quickly annexed as much of the remaining states as they could. Arla was no more.

But Perdidi lived on...

Protected by the sea of radiation caused by his wepaon, Farquhar declared all of the province his and renamed it 'Venemon' in tribute to the enourmous tarantula population of the region and his love of the large spiders. Farquhar also annexed the surrounding territories which were not affected by radiation into his new nation. The once stunning province has now become a barren, industrial wasteland full of crime and poverty. While one of the more economically powerful nations in the vicinity, Venemon's populace is probably one of the worst off, watched over and ruled under the iron fist of Farquhar and his corporate, dictatorial hold on the government.
