Venus City is a massive city on an artifical landmass, built in the form of an interstellar, interdimensional starship. With the capacity to hold millions of people and the ability to add on to the city as needed, it bills itself as a cosmopolitan, mobile capital of personal liberty and unabashed indulgence.

The City was constructed with the aid of nanotechnology, comissioned by a resident of Earth, Ritsuko Taisen, and designed by her child prodigy of a daughter, Zoe Taisen. Using interstellar debris, as well as the scrapped hulls of other starships, their nanomachines constructed a whole new, mobile nation, dedicated to offering its residents a constantly changing locale to have fun in, as well as a place where freedom of expression and freedom of lifestyle would reign supreme.

Ruling Family/Government

Venus City is a Monarchal/Imperial system, with the Ruling Family actually owning the city itself, and all property on the city grounds is rented from them. Ultimate power of decision rests with the Royal Family, and they have the authority to override any other protocol issued in the City.

A limited democracy exists in the form of a public opinion system, tied through the City's computer into every home, allowing its citizens to vote on where the city shall go to next, and also to gather opinions on pressing issues. This information is relayed to the Central Bridge as well as to the Imperial Mansion. Almost always the Ruling Line sides with public opinion as to where the City shall go, but they still posess the right to override the vote when they see fit.

Society

To call Venus City 'liberal' would be an understatement. The city was founded by two bisexual women, Ritsuko Taisen and Tyala Letizia, who wanted to create a place in the universe where those who are persecuted for their lifestyles could live in peace. The pair admittedly had a bias for the female form, and acknowledged that females across the Multiverse tend to be the victims of discrimination. To that end, females were (and still are) offered a severely reduced tax and rent to live in Venus City compared to males, which has lead to 80% of the city's population appearing outwardly feminine.

With the proliferation of transgender technology throughout the galaxy, a large percentage of those females are actually fully functioning hermaphrodites, or are at least able to change their gender with relative ease. This has lead to the commonplace marriage and conception of children by homosexual couples. It is not uncommon for females to retain there feminine appearances and personalities while also adapting male genitailia. Many retain both, or have complex medical devices to switch between the two, allowing for greater freedom in choosing sex partners.

To that end, sex in Venus City has been de-stigmatized. The same technologies that brought about the transgender revolution have also done away with unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Certain areas of Venus City public parks are also set aside as public sex areas, and sex in night clubs and other public establishments is not uncommon. (Most of these places have bathrooms built to accomodate two or more to a stall by default.)

Public security in Venus City is impressive. Since the whole city is one giant starship, every public area is under constant surveilance, with sensors tuned to monitor public activity dilligently. Private residences are not monitored, in keeping with the city's liberal tradition of staying as uninvolved as possible in the citizen's personal lives. Should a public sexual encounter turn negative, an extensive system of call boxes and alarms is in effect, allowing for anyone to easily summon assistance. 'Felony' crimes are virtually nonexistant in Venus City, with only one murder and three rapes yet documented in the city's history. (Considering the amount of promiscuity in the city, this is a small wonder.)

Sex and other forms of physical affection having lost their negative stigma, it is now also socially appropriate to be intimate with what other cultures would consider children. The age of sexual consent in Venus City is 12, while the age of legal adulthood is 16, though special permits can be obtained with parent's permission at younger ages. Within close, loving families, incest is becoming more and more common, and an extensive social network is set up in Venus City, with social workers periodically checking in on all of the city's children both at home and at school, looking for any signs of forced interaction or other abuse, should intra-family intimacy turn from loving to forceful or violent. At an early age, children are taught that sex is an extention of love for another, and while it can also be fun, it is never, EVER to be abused.

Capital Puninshment is currently enforced for only two crimes: rape and murder. Attempted rape and attempted murder result in banishment from the city; depending on the severity of the attempt, some are even marooned on empty worlds, with a promise from VC officials to return in several years to see if they are ready to rehabilitate and enter society again. These harsh punishments have usually lead Venus City to be a very peaceful city; lesser crimes are usually punished by extensive public service. There is a very small prison in Venus City, but it is usually used as a holdover facility until a proper service can be decided for the convict. Currently, there are no crimes that mandate long-term incarceration.

Military

The Venus City military is divided up into several branches:

  • Venus City Ground Self Defence Force (VCGSDF)
    • Venus City Mechanized Defence Force (VCMDF)
  • Venus City Space Fighter Defence Force (VCSFDF)
  • Venus City Navy (VCN) (This refers to the Space Navy. While there are a few small bodies of water in Venus City, none are large enough to support or require maritime forces.)

Venus City also currently enjoys the protection of the Federation government.

The Dumasian Conflict

Approximately three months after its founding, the Royal Family encountered a runaway 'princess' from the planet of Dumas, a nearby world with a dictatorial ruler named Daloren. When Daloren came looking for her daughter, the Taisen family refused to give her up, and the other daughters all claimed asylum there as well. Daloren instantly declared war on Venus City, and a two-week standoff began while the City amassed as many defense forces as it could, and Daloren mobilized her planet's impressive military.

At the moment that the Dumasian force gated out near Venus City, a Federation fleet, under the command of Admiral Bo Tanaka and brought to Venus' aid by Empress Zoe Taisen, arrived and beat back the Dumasians, forcing their surrender. Daloren was captured shortly thereafter, but mysteriously went missing. Her current whereabouts are unknown. Dumas itself is under Federation control, and most of its old fleet now belongs to Venus City.

The Goddess Guardians

Like any great city, Venus City has its own superheroes. A cadre of young women, all dressed as beautiful and provocative embodiments of ancient goddesses, appears to protect the city from within and without, helping to keep the crime to petty levels. Their powers are vast, and some believe their leader, Aphrodite, has divine powers. At times a woman of angelic appearance, wings and all, has appeared to assist them, going by the name of Sophia.

The Goddess Guardians have even had a Saturday-morning cartoon show made in their likeness, and a widely popular line of merchandise is sold in Venus City under their name. Young girls are often seen going to school with backpacks decorated with their favorite Goddess.
