The Viking Class Cruiser was the first starship created by Phoenix Dynamix After over 21 complete overhauls, numerous upgrades and thousands of tweaks and modifications, it is still in service today in the Mark 5, Mod 1 and the Mark 2 Mod 17 configuration.
It was conceived as a multi-role ship and designed to preform exploration, survey, scientific, diplomatic, transport, military and recon missions. The completion of the 1000th vessel marked the end of the Viking era, as new, larger, mission specific ships began to fill in the Fleet. The PSS Viking (later known as PHX Viking, S.S. #0001), the first Viking Class, served longer than any other vessel in the Phoenix Fleet's history. After it had undergone countless modifications, it engaged in battle with the then unknown UMS fleet. The UMS fleet was destroyed, but not before it launched a full volley of missiles, one of which nearly caused a warp core breach when it slammed into the shuttle bay and ignited fuel tanks. The near breach along with other heavy damage from the battle was the final straw, and the viking spent 10 years in mothballs under protest. In 2500, after the 1000th Viking Class was launched, the PHX Viking was completely restored to its original working configuration and landed in New Phoenix and now sits in a place of honor alongside such relics as the F-27 Haste Fighter Jet and the T-1 Scorpion Main Battle Tank. It is currently acting as a fully featured museum, documenting manned spaceflight history.
