This article describes the visa policy applied by the Confederacy of Latao.

Visas

The Latin visa policy controls the entries and stays of foreign persons inside the Confederacy of Latao and specifies where a visa is required.

Requirements

Appliers must meet the following conditions:

  1. Must not have any criminal records in Latao and the country of origin
  2. Must be integrative to Latao
  3. Must be holder of a Latin work or study permission or have suitable financial resources

Criminal Records

The applicant must not have any criminal records, which lead to prison-penalties for more than 30 days by Latin law – incl. records from his country of origin.

Criminal records related to political reasons, especially free-speaking in autocratic states, is not included by this requirement, as free speech is allowed in Latao.

Integration Check

The Confederacy of Latao reserves the right, to decline a visa or entry permission to people, who follow ideologies, considered aggressive or against the constitution and basic idea of liberty, equality, democracy and free speech.

The Confederacy counts Nazi, communism and fundamental/radical religion as such as well as anti-democratic or anti-federal tensions.

Work Permission

If the applicant wishes to enter Latao to work here, a valid employment contract from a company residing in Latao is required. The visa will be granted for the time specified in the employment contract, which is max. one year.

If needed, the visa can be extended for another year. In case the applicant’s employment contract is unlimited, the visa can be converted into permanent stay permission.

Study Permission

If the applicant wishes to enter the country to study at one of the leading universities in Latao (or any other school), a valid matriculation for the school is needed. The visa will be granted for the time of the education, which is max. seven years.

If wished, the visa can be extended up to ten years to allow the student to collect work experience on the job in Latao.

Holders of study permissions are allowed to work part time, as it may be needed to finance their education or to gain experiences on the job.

Suitable Financial Resources

Any people who whish to enter Latao for a longer stay not related to work or education, are required to bring enough financial resources to make their days without public social support. Work permissions can be requested at a later time, during the runtime of the visa.

The Confederacy defines 50 Latinums per day as ‘suitable’.

Note: The Federal Department of Migration & Citizenship may order, that the holder of a visa must arrive for a check of his papers in defined intervals. This could be daily, weekly, monthly or anything else. If the holder does not comply with this rule, his visa is declared void and he must expect to be returned by the border controls forces.

Regulations

The following section defines who needs a visa and what for.

FLMS-member nations & AORDO-Partners Citizens of our allied states do not require a visa to enter Latao and do not require permission to work or study in the country.

The Confederacy however reserves the right, to decline people who do not have sufficient financial resources. This is, because we want to prevent cases of social support or beggars etc. The Confederacy may also deny entry to people considered a risk or if they follow ideologies considered malicious.

Atlantian Oceania Nations Citizens from any other nation of the region do not require a visa if their stay is no longer than 21 days at once and no longer than 90 days per year.

Where a visa is required, the above rules apply.

World-wide Nations Citizens from countries outside the region require a visa to enter the Confederacy of Latao. The above rules apply.

Permanent Stay-Permissions

The following section defines how a permanent stay in Latao can be achieved.

The permanent stay permission allows the holder to live in Latao for an unlimited time, which includes leaving and re-entering the country at any time. People can apply for the permission at their District of residence.

Requirements

To receive permanent stay permission for the Confederacy of Latao, the same rules apply as needed for visas:

  1. Must not have any criminal records in Latao and the country of origin
  2. Must be integrative to Latao
  3. Must be holder of a school matriculation or have an unlimited employment contract

FLMS-member nations

Since citizens from FLMS-alliance member nations do not require a visa to enter Latao, registering for permanent stay permission is mainly a formal act.

If these people meet the above conditions, they can simply apply for the permanent stay permission on their District of residence.

Citizens from other Nations (regional and world-wide)

People having a visa with a granted validity of at least 12 months can convert it into permanent stay permission.

Note: After ten years of living in Latao using permanent stay permission (possible years of having a visa count also), people may apply for the Latin Citizenship which allows them to participate on the political life.

Be aware, that if any requirements are not met anymore, a visa or permanent stay permission can be removed at any time, which enforces the former holder to leave the country.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers

People of this category receive a special status in the country, named RAS. This status can be achieved only, by people who are recognized as international refugees by the Atlantian Oceania regional council. Others entering the country illegal (by not applying for a visa) will be arrested and returned to the country of origin. The governments of these countries are charged for any costs; non-cooperating countries must expect cuts in development supports or care programmes.

Conditions for people with the RAS-Status are as following:

  1. Internationally recognized as refugees by the Atlantian Oceania Regional Council
  2. People without any identification passports are not recognized
  3. Economical refugees are not recognized (war zones only)
  4. Must co-operate with the Latin authorities, regarding ID checking etc.
  5. Must not have any criminal records in Latao and the country of origin

RAS-Candiates that do not meet these conditions will be returned by the border control forces.

Once, the RAS-Status was granted, the following rules apply:

  1. The RAS-Status may not be longer than 12 months
  2. Refuges must live in a RAS-camp
  3. Refuges are not allowed to work while having the RAS-Status
  4. Refuges must accept works assigned by the Municipalities or other Latin authorities

RAS-Holders that do not meet these conditions will be returned by the border control forces.

The Federal Department decides after the 12 months of RAS over the final status of the RAS-Holder. These can be the following options:

  1. The RAS-Status is extended for another 12 months (under the same conditions)
  2. The RAS-Status is extended for another 12 months (with work permission)
  3. The RAS is converted into a limited stay permission (max. five years, visa)
  4. The person must leave Latao

Option two and three require the following additional conditions:

  1. Must be integrative to Latao
  2. Must have basic skills of the language

Diplomatic Personnel

Official representatives of foreign authorities and embassies are excluded from all limitations specified in this law act.

Foreign countries may send up to five representatives (holders of diplomatic passports) to Latao concurrently. Additional personnel require permission, which can be requested directly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Note: This does not apply to employees of NGO’s or supra-national organizations. These are threatened as common people.
