Vrelck Class Cruiser
The Vrelck Class Cruiser is one of the main type of spaceborne cruisers utilized by The Phoenix Militia in the 24th century.
Missions
The Vrelck Class Cruiser is often times the vessel of choice for first contact situations. It is a very capable vessel, and very well armed, but its size is not overly intimidating. All Vrelck Class ships can conduct diplomatic, scientific, logistical or rescue missions, but its primary purpose is for war. The Vrelck Class features an impressive array of disruptor, phaser, torpedo and missile weaponry, as well as the latest active and passive defensive systems.
Variants
Type 1
The Vrelck Class Cruiser, Type 1, often simply referred to as the Vrelck Class is the original Starcruiser of The Imperial Vanguard of The Phoenix Militia. The Type 1 Class --as it was retroactively called-- was retired when the Spartan Class Cruiser came into service and most, but not all were completely scrapped and recycled. A few of the vessels remained on active duty and were gradually upgraded into the Type 2 variant.
Type 2
The Type 2(image shown at top right) was a massive overhaul and upgrade of the original, and the result of a successful attempt to keep the Vrelck in service. Although successful, the Vrelck Type 2 largely supplemented the new ubiquitous Spartan Class in front line service, and was relegated to home defense and the occasional diplomatic mission. The Type 2 showed promise, but never came into its own as a front line combatant, Most Type 2s were converted into Type 3s,and a number of them were largely scrapped and rebuilt as Nova Vrelck Type.
Type 3
The Vrelck Class Cruiser, Type 3 is probably the most popular version of the Vrelck and although it is not as new as the Nova Vrelck design, it is considered by some to be the most advanced in service. The Type 3 features a total of 12 stories and 36 decks.
Nova Vrelck
The Nova Vrelck is the successor to the Vrelck type 2 and the Spartan, while it features a radical new hull design, it is only officially considered slightly better than the Type 3 by The Fleet. The Nova Vrelck features a more angular fuselage, tighter "wings" and a different weapons loadout. The weapons complement is classified but there have been complaints that it does not allow for as much internal room as the previous Type 1, 2 and 3 designs.
