The Vuhi-Kazach War is the defining event of the Vuhifellian Federation, and the very reason it exists. The War has always been, and has been with the Federation ever since it's inception, and after 350+ years of perpetual war, the continent is finally at peace. The War spanned every province of the Federation, and as the war progressed, so too did its causes. Originally, it was a war for independence, then, economic stability, finally, it transformed into a war of religious fundamentalism fueled by an insidious plot within several levels of Vuhifellian society and government. The War's end crippled the economy for years, and did irreparable damage to some of the most respected political and economic institutions in the land. Vuhifell is only now - 30 years later - beginning to recover from the effects of the War.

Background

As colonial powers granted independence to different regions of Vuhifell in the late 17th century, there were two dominant powers among them competing for a continental government system. On one side were the Colonists, they represented different races and nationalities, and proposed a continental republic, dividing the continent into regions according to demographics

On another side were the Greykan Tribe of the Kazachs. Of the Original Five Tribes that inhabited the continent before the colonists came, the Greykans were the most powerful, and they demanded that the continent be divided amongst the tribes (with the Greykan tribe recieving a large portion). They already had secured a majority of the continent when the Republic of Vuhifell was declared in 1700. A weak, federal government that lacked any control beyond the eastern shores of Vuhifell, this new government rapidly expanded its borders to encompass nearly a fifth of the continent in the first three years of its existance.

Tensions quickly rose between the governments of Vuhifell an Greykan, and soon, a confederation of pro-independence groups from all tribes and regions of the continent formed as the Kazach Order

No one knows for sure when exactly the Vuhi-Kazach War started, as records of the initial first battles were not kept safe over the centuries. The first record of the Vuhi-Kazach War to survive was of a battle near the present day village of Charlesboro. The document indicated that the battle took place in 1715, and that the war had already been fought for a number of years. According to the document, the Battle of Charlesboro lasted for six hours, leaving 11 Kazachs and 3 Vuhifellians dead, along with the destruction of a nearby farm.
