The Secular Republic of WWSETI is a fine and diverse region, governed as a parliamentary democracy. With six political parties, the region is home to some of the most sophisticated politics in all of NS. WWSETI is an ancient region, founded half way through 2003. It has continued to evolve through its history. The Centrist Government in this region was founded recently by The Far-Left Commie Wasteland of Carops with support from his regional colleagues.

Notable Events in WWSETI History

WWSETI was founded by Hagge in 2003. It remained a medium sized region for many months, but was always stable and secure. However, this calm was shattered earlier this year when a huge rift was created between some nations in the region. Two of WWSETI's highest-ranking senators, Julio Trigman and Four Hectares, were eventually driven from the region, for breaking WWSETIs laws. The founder of WWSETI, Hagge, was deleted by moderators during an ensuing conflict with the United Federation of Planets region. This left WWSETI vulnerable. The region was forced to impose a regional password for fear of invasion. On the 5th November 2005, WWSETI became a Parliamentary democracy. This eventually resulted in a new wave of immigration to the region. WWSETI's second and current President, Meteoric Peoples (Hagge was the first) accepted a large reduction of his powers, which were transferred to a democractically elected Prime Minister, leaving the President with only emergency powers should the region fall apart. This, in turn, led to the election and political dominance of Carops and his Centrist Party, a regime which has remained in power until today. The Carops administration has encouraged a large wave of new immigration to WWSETI, and established the Secular Republic on the 17th December 2005. Elections have been called for 5th January, where Carops will be standing for re-election in the region.

Centrist Government (5th November 2005 -)

The Centrist Party's ascension to power in WWSETI saw a number of changes in the region. Party leader Carops became the region's head of state, assuming a role which some regarded as that of an "elected dictator." The Centrists made WWSETI a strong region, but did not please everyone. The primary critic of Centrist rule was Latagon, leader of the WWSETI conservative party. This argument spilled over into the ministerial roles of the people of WWSETI. Carops took great issue to the behaviour of his own intelligence services, which he considered to be working deliberately against him. It was not helped that Latagon was serving as Director of Intelligence at the time. At one point, the Centrist leader referred to them as "over zealous" and was siad to considered shutting them down more than once. The Centrists also led WWSETI into membership of the Allied Defence Network and advocated a very Pro-Nasicournian foreign policy. This led to the region being put at risk from The People's Republic of The Pacific and led to some disquiet among certain regional members. More recently, the region became somewhat less stable. The large amounts of immigration into it, coupled with a number of spats between governmental officials made WWSETI a place of heated discussion in recent weeks.

WWSETI Life

WWSETI is a remarkably tolerant region. Its people have chosen to vote for a number of liberal and humanitarian laws over the past few months. Since the opening of the WWSETI Parliament, all nations in the region have been given a voice in government. The system works in this way:

1. WWSETI has a president, who retains emergency powers to rule the region. He is also UN Delegate, responsible for preventing an invasion of WWSETI. Formerly, the President was the keeper of the WWSETI Password.

2. The Prime Minister is elected by the people. He is responsible for the overall running of WWSETI and is free to appoint ministers to delegate tasks. The PM can remove or appoint Ministers as he wishes, but is expected to present the region with a reason for doing so.

3. The People of WWSETI all have a place in the regional parliament. However, the placing of puppets in parliament is always found out and is severely punished.

4. WWSETI is essentially governed by its constitution. Currently, the new constitution is going through its first reading of Parliament.

Also, WWSETIans generally get their information from a variety of sources. The WWSETI Post is the official regional newspaper, editted by Abbassia. This is widely regarded as the most impartial news service on what is actually going on within the region. There are a number of RP newspapers in WWSETI, focusing on internal RP events. The Most popular of these is the staunchly patriotic and somewhat satirical Carops Free Tribune, which is known to criticise anyone other than Carops. "The Informer" is WWSETI's Official RP newspaper. It is currently being published only occasionally, but the editor has promised to begin to do it more regularly. There is also The WWSETI Parliament Magazine, which follows events in the regional parliament, aiming to be unbiased and neutral.

Foreign Relations

WWSETI enjoys alliances with a number of important regions in NS, including Nasicournia, Genosha, The Exodus, Futaba Aoi, Q102, and Dun Eideann II. We have a dedicated ambassadorial staff committed to furthering regional relations with other players. We are currently in talks with a number of regions in regards to an embassy and/or alliance.

Internal Affairs

A number of issues are important to average WWSETIans today. One of these is regional recruitment. The regional population shot up from 33 to 58 in three weeks during December 2005. This growth has spawned a new interest in the region from the outside world. Prime Minister Carops has made no secret of the fact that he intends to get regional numbers over 100 before he leaves government. Whether this will actually happen remains to be seen.

WWSETI's elections cycle also takes up a lot of time. Parties regularly hold debates and attempt to increase membership, although there is a considerable proportion of regional members are not members of any party.

WWSETI's people have also established themselves as Roleplayers as well, with an active section of the forum devoted to this.

Recently, there have been concerns over the reachs of the regional intelligence services.
