War of Ten Thousand Winters

The War of Ten Thousand Winters is named for a war that lasted approximately ten thousand years. During the war the Tomar fought against the evils of the earth, the enemies of old, against Balrogs and creatures of the deep. During the war a great evil was mustered from the greatest depths of hatred and despair. A ancient evil created during the creation of all things, during the Discord of Melkor a evil so great was put to rest in the deepest levels of shadow and was awoken by the greed and jelousy of Men and of Elves. After the end of the fourth age of Endore all the elves, safe for the Tomar, departed this realm for Valinor. However, left behind the Tomar were the last living people in northern Endore. Therefore, the defended thier Motherland to the very last. And when it was down to the last thousand Tomar they pleaded with the Valar to save them, however, in their time they had become greedy and selfish, ignoring the Valar. Elbereth, Queen of the Stars, came to them and said, “It was ye how have awoken this great evil. And it shall be ye, and ye alone, whom must detroyeth this evil.” The Tomar pleaded but to no avail. However, some Valar took pity on them and would help destroy this evil if they in turn would give up that which was most dear. Therefore, the Tomar gave up their immortality so that their people might live on in peace for the rest of the ages. The Valar fought the evil and put it into twenty four crystals and through them into the farthest reaches of Arda. If, the Tomar were to find all 24 they then, have proven their worth and their immorality would be granted back to the Tomar.
