The language was never tried to be repressed by the Weegies' [[Svea Riga | Svea Rigan]] colonial masters, and as such had been left free to develop throughout the Svea Rigan term of colonisation, and continued to do so once the Svea Rigans left. Like with many other more regionalised languages that have been exposed to the more global nature of the world today, the newer words bear more than a passing resemblance to words of major languages, especially those of [[Celdonian]] origin, but modified to suit Weegie spelling conventions - "''choam'putaigh''" or "''iain'ternagh''" for "computer" and "internet".

Weegie is the language of the indigenous people of The Weegies, an island chain that is considered part of the continent of Aperin. The language was never tried to be repressed by the Weegies' Svea Rigan colonial masters, and as such had been left free to develop throughout the Svea Rigan term of colonisation, and continued to do so once the Svea Rigans left. Like with many other more regionalised languages that have been exposed to the more global nature of the world today, the newer words bear more than a passing resemblance to words of major languages, especially those of Celdonian origin, but modified to suit Weegie spelling conventions - "choam'putaigh" or "iain'ternagh" for "computer" and "internet".

The Weegie language does not contain the letters "k" , "x" , "z" , "q", "y", and "j", the sounds that they normally represent being either adequately represented already, or not used at all.

OOC Note: The Weegie language is based on, but is not actually, the real life language of Scots Gaelic.
