Weegie Premier Division

The Weegie Premier Division was the old top division of the Weegie league system, replaced by the Weegie Premiership in the year 2000. It was set up in 1923 by Rigans who had imported the game from their own country. It consisted of ten teams, of which the bottom two were automatically relegated each season. As of the last season, 1999/2000, the teams in the WPD were as follows:

  • Buchanan Haggises
  • Easter House Islanders
  • Hanover Town
  • Jamestoun City
  • Mackintosh Armadillos
  • Mackintosh Thistle Celtic
  • Trams Union United
  • Sauchiehall Rovers
  • Soothside City
