The Confederacy of Weserkyn, a member of the United Nations, is a nation of the region The Paper Bag. It is also the founder of the Accord of Liberalists.
Etymology
The word "Weserkyn" is from the Weserian language. The first settlers and founders of the nation were þaa Wesers, "the Weserians", a Germanic tribe. The word in Weserian meaning "tribe" or "family" is kyn, a cognate of the English word kin. The word also means "nation". Even before a nation identifiable as Weserkyn existed, the people living there would refer to their population as a whole as the Weserkyn, "Weserian family". Still thinking of the entire population as the Weserian family, the Weserians named the nation "Weserkyn".
The Flag
The national flag of Weserkyn is a red flag with a gold saltire (diagonal cross) surrounded by eight white stars, one bigger than the others.
The red symbolizes the nation's power and valor. The gold symbolizes justice. The smaller stars represent the seven states of Weserkyn, while the bigger star represents the nation itself. They are white to symbolize the whole nation's pure and peaceful nature.
Society
Ethnic Groups
About 50% of Weserians are Anglo-Saxon in descent. The original settlers and founders of the nation were a group of Anglo-Saxons from England who called themselves þā Wesers, "the Weserians". They ultimately came from the area around the Weser river, in what is now the state of Niedersachsen in Germany. Other European groups make 20% of the population. People indigenous to the area, 15% of the population, make the largest non-Caucasian group, followed by Africans, about 10%.
Language

The official language is Weserian. It is spoken throughout the country, and every citizen speaks it as either a native or a learned language. In the southern part of Weserkyn, however, lives a large percentage of people who speak a dialect of Weserian as its native language. The dialect is considered by the government to be a separate language, and has made it an official language, along with Weserian, in the southern states.
Weserian is a member of the Anglic language group in the Western branch of the Germanic languages. It is an offshoot of Old English, the same language from which English descends. Because English and Weserian share a recent common ancestor, they are very similar to each other. Weserian, however, is much more conservative in its sound changes and vocabulary, and therefore is still remarkably similar to Old English.
Religion
Most all citizens believe religion is personal. Because of this, the government is secular, and very few try to impose their religious beliefs, or lack thereof, on others.
Most Weserians, about 65%, claim themselves to be Atheist or non-religious. The largest religion is Ásatrú, the religion of the first settlers, making about 20% of the population. Abrahamic religions only make 10% of the population altogether, 7% of whom are Chrisitans. Other religions, making 5% altogether, include those of the indigenous people and other non-Caucasian people.
