History

The First Reich, The Crusades

The Witzgallian History begins in the year of 88 CE, or Common Era. Germanic Tribes, which were a combination of the Jutes and Ostrogoths, settled down in the landmass of The Midlands, and ended their nomadic ways.

The newly formed nation flourished as a Catholic empire, claiming that its Emporer (who, at the time, was called Johnathan the Great) was the absolute leader of the Catholic Church. Aimed at “purifying” the world and ridding the land of infidels (such as Jewish followers who denied Christ as the Messiah), the Witzgallian Crusades lasted for over a century, spreading bloodshed all over the continent on which it thrived.

Fighting for precious religious relics and warding off non-believers, the Crusaders were a powerful force of human mass that pillaged as they moved, killing any enemy leader with a beheading ceremony to end their treason against God.

After Johnathan the Great died on the battlefield, himself being a warrior for the Empire, in 102 CE, his son (Lord Augustus) took the throne and continued where his glorious father had left off. Lord Augustus was not a warrior, but instead an excellent strategist. He set his sights on the Holy Temple of Huvas, which was supposedly located deep within the vast jungles of Witzgall.

Anybody who stepped into Augustus’ path was slain by the large numbers of elite warriors who protected him in the name of the Holy, which gave Lord Augustus a reputation as a fearless and courageous man, who was said to be a prophet himself. Cardinals of the Church, residing in the Empire, were basically Generals within the army of Witzgall, giving orders to the soldiers to commit genocide on all infidels and non-believers, for they were doing Satan’s work by impeding God’s sacred search.

Lord Augustus died in his sleep in 143 CE, and his nephew Maximillion the Third, took the throne as the Emporer of the Empire. Maximillion decided to devide the empire into two divisions, the West and East. Feuding quickly began between the sides, mainly over the location of the Capital, which was filled with ancient relics and tributes to the most admirable soldiers. Maximillion reunited the empire under his control by having an assassin poison Archbishop Luther III, the ruler of the Western Empire.

Maximillion turned his sights to the Huvas, as Lord Augustus died before ever finding it’s resting place. Ordering over two million soldiers to search by any means necessary, the great Emporer waged war on numerous surrounding nomadic tribes, killing them without rest.

Dying in 192 CE at the age of 72, Maximillion had a statue in his honor erected in the governmental building within the Rote Stadt, which remains Witzgall’s capital today. The crusades ended when Lord Adolf Jugenz took power, and focused on state and governmental issues instead of religious conquest.

Lord Adolf began an age of militarism, creating a massive army of three million strong. The national population at the time was only seven million, making the military roughly half of the total general public’s size. This was necessary, as slave uprisings were a common sight in the empire at the time. Religious persecution continued strongly, yet there was no major conflicts in sight.

The Second Reich, The Dynasty of Matthew

The Crusades made up the First Reich in Witzgallian History, the beginning of its time. The Second Reich was an economical powerhouse, as well as a controversial militaristic dictatorship. Ruled by Matthew I, a man who shot Lord Adolf in the back of the neck during Lord Adolf’s dinner meeting with Matthew I (who, at the time, was just a reporter). Matthew I’s assasination of Lord Adolf was a highly debatable topic in the eyes of the public.

Some saw it as a new era of truthful politics, yet some saw it as cold blooded murder. The Council of Generals, the legislative and secondary governmental branch of the Empire, met to discuss how to appoint a new Emporer to oversee the Witzgallian Reich. Matthew I, a leftist reporter from the Witzgallian National Underground newspaper, was voted into office due to his views of economical stability and militaristic, yet democratic, governmental ideas.

What you will not find in the history books is the fact that Matthew I used his father, Luther III, a rich republican, to buy the “election”. He is reported to have paid over eighteen billion dollars to Councilmen in order to persuade the vote into his favor. This fact has just been noted within the last two years.

Matthew I revamped the military and instated a socialist republic. He did away with the death penalty, which at the time was used for numerous crimes (such as rape, murder, and treason). Stating that rehabilitation was better, Matthew I gave almost a trillion dollars to the judicial system of the empire in order to create new-age rehabilitation centers, to replace the prisons and correction facilities within Witzgall.

Matthew I was murder in his sleep by his own son, Matthew II. Stabbed eighteen times, Matthew I was laying in a pool of his own blood when the medical staff of the National Protection Agency (NPA) arrived to check on his condition. Mathew II claimed himself the Fuhrer of Witzgall, and began reconstruction of the dictatorship-esque governmental style of which his father did away with.

A full right-wingist, Matthew II believed in the occult and was a strong follower of the Aryan Faith, believing in a single, all-powerful “super race.” He believed the Jewish faith was created to demolish the moral of the “standard being”, and ordered all Hebrews and followers of the Jewish Faith to be imprisoned for high treason against the system. His soldiers followed his orders, arresting or killing every Jewish person within the empire.

Overtime, the public began to notice the cruel and evil eyes of their leader. They called for an uprising, an end to his reign as leader of the Reich. But Matthew II claimed to be God himself, in human form, and ordered his followers to kill the non-believers, the traitors to the Almighty.

The Christian Church denounced the Fuhrer’s claims. They believed he was being controlled by a demon, possibly Lucifer himself, who was trying to overthrow and demoralize the church system as a whole. The Fuhrer’s iron-fisted rule was coming to an end…

In 255 CE, Matthew II killed himself by putting a dagger through his left temple. His son, Matthew III, was only sixteen at the time of his father’s death. However, under law, he was placed into the office as Fuhrer of the Reich. An inexperienced soldier at the time, Matthew III would soon grow to be one of the most beloved leaders in Witzgallian history.

Matthew III started out his rule with the construction of the Great Wall of Witzgall, trying to stop the nomadic tribes’ assault on the powerhouse of Witzgall. Suffering from riots and uncontrollable militias within the empire, Matthew III had to act fast to quell the uprisings which threatened his rule and his life.

He built the military into a massive force of roughly ten million, and ordered the soldiers to patrol the walls and inner city streets at all times. The riots slowly declined as the death penalty was reinstated, and any offense relating to anti-governmental views was quickly backed by the punishment of torture and death.

Matthew III resurrected the ancient Christian church, reinstating the close relationship between the Church and State that existed in the times of the Crusades. However, instead of a militaristic relationship, the new era of Church and State living alongside one another was founded on the popular belief of trust and that the Christian faith would soon enough become the world religion, making Witzgall one of the most powerful nations in the world.

Expanding rapidly under Matthew III’s control, the Reich’s military began to become spread out and overused. Fighting battles nearly ever month, the military was exhausted by 280 CE.

Matthew III began to intensify training of new soldiers, and released the Jewish followers from imprisonment. He apologized to the faith’s leaders, trying to ammend the relationship and solve any and all problems.

Killed during a meeting with General Adolf Luthinthsia, Matthew III’s rule ended abruptly in 321 CE at the age of 82. The public called for the execution of General Luthinthsia, but the State had employed the General to kill the Fuhrer. The Council then did away with the Fuhrership, instating a democratic system into the governmental eye. The idealist behind this system was Colonel David Millith, an excellent strategist and church loyalist. He became the Chancellor of the democratic system, the representative to the new government.

His rule ended after only a decade. On December 25th, 330 CE, Millith was stabbed in the heart while attending Mass. His blood stained the Church of the Holy Saint John’s marble floor, and the stain stayed for an entire century, plaguing the church with its evil.

Following Millith’s short reign, the army of the Witzgallian government rose up and declared mutiny against the entire nation. A war broke out, between the soldiers and diplomats. This war lasted for over a millenia, even though the Reich didn’t have an official leader. Leaders came and went, none having an influence on the war. They all became casualties in the neverending fued.

The Third Reich, The Rule of the Kings

In 1416, after the Military vs. State war, the government of Witzgall was reinstated. It is estimated by historians that between 350 and 1400 CE, over five billion men and women living in the Witzgallian Reich died. In 1416, Richard Ludwig came to power as the King of Witzgall, instating a monarchy government style.

Installing a peaceful government and a quiet public, which had almost zero resitance or hostility against the King. King Richard I created a new body of the military, known as the “Cellinisons”, which were actually sharpshooters. Using Italian handguns in warfare, the Witzgallian Reich quickly made itself known to the international community with its new face of battlefield style and tactics.

King Richard I led the Witzgallian Army into a new age of warfare, standardizing the handgun and the sword being the secondary arm on the battlefield for the new soldiers.

In 1424, The first mechanical device for firing the hand gun made its appearance on the battlefield. A civil war rose up in the empire in 1430, and King Richard I tried everything in his power to stop the rebels from ending his reign. He had grown rich and greedy during his time as the absolute ruler of Witzgall.

His life was ended in 1462, when his brother slit the King’s throat with a officer’s blade. His brother buried King Richard I’s body in the courtyard of Château de Dieu, King Richard’s most glorious castle ever built.

Richard’s brother, Johnathan Ludwig IV, took power as King John IV after killing his brother. Rebellions and riots quickly were seen in the streets, and Château de Dieu was sieged by the nationalist rebels. King John IV was shot by a crossbow while attending to his garden peacefully, dying by infection three months later, on June 6th, 1470. The public demanded the right to take place in governmental office and debates, claiming it was their right as Reichsmen (citizens).

When the Council of Generals denied such a right, they too were sieged by the public. The governmental building that once held the glorious council was set ablaze, and burnt down over a period of three days. The council members were rounded up by the military, who at this time was acting under a man who called himself “Bourbon the Invincible”.

Bourbon the Invincible came to power as the King in 1478, after eight years of rebellion and destruction of which he carefully planned out and created militant groups to act on his ideals of a united landmass, a utopian paradise for all walks of life. In 1480, Bourbon the Invincible began to draw up plans to conquer the land surrounding the Witzgallian Reich, claiming it was in Witzgall’s destined path and nobody else has the right to lay claims to the land.

His soldiers suited up and marched, meeting up with other Witzgallian military groups at the battlefront. Under Bourbon the Invincible, Witzgall grew nearly three times its size during King John IV’s rule. The army conquered the Constables, a cultured civilization which excelled in the arts. Bourbon the Invincible enslaved the Constables, and decided to have the Constable schools and education system preserved and integrated into the Witzgallian culture.

Slaves rebelled against Bourbon the Invincible, alongside the newly captures Contables, in 1492. Bourbon ordered strategic eliminations of threatening groups, shattering the slaves’ hopes of freedom from the persecution they suffered whilst in the empire.

In 1512, Bourbon the Invincible died of a heart attack after learning of his wife’s drowning. The slaves quickly took this opportunity of nationalistic depression and rose up, fighting against the military with all of their might concentrated. The man leading the slaves in the massive rebellion was none other than King Bourbon’s son, Christopher Fraue. Fraue led the massive amounts of slaves to their freedom in a large amount of battles, which ultimately ended in the defeat and crumble of the State’s control.

In 1540, the slaves won their freedom. However, this was short lived. Fraue was soon murdered, alongside his wife and daughter, on Easter Sunday in 1541. The slaves who had fought against the government were “put down” in massive genocidal assaults which lasted two decades.

On January 4th, 1566, Witzgall began its rebirthing process, trying to grow back into the economical and militaristic powerhouse of which it once was. Alongside the new governmental reforms, the Witzgallian Reich elected a new Fuhrer during the first ever publicly released elections. Winning by a landslide, Fuhrer Adolf Pacz became the new representative for the Witzgallian Reich.

The Fourth Reich, The Age of the Faith

The Fourth Reich of Witzgall began in 1566, with the Fuhrer Adolf Pacz. Fuhrer Pacz was a humble man, another believer in the occult and the Aryan Faith. Adolf began “reforming” the Witzgallian Empire. First, he began by instating numerous “Codes of Conduct” to be followed by all civilians living within the Reich. Most notable of these Codes is the Book of the Scorpion, which contains the Religious Codes.

Within the Book of the Scorpion, it is stated that the general public is notably Christian, and always will be. It also says that the Christian belief structure is nothing but a lie, a mind game against the masses. It states that, although Jesus did believe, he was meerly a man and not the Messiah. It states that the Messiah is a falsehood used to give hope to the masses and keep the slaves in check.

In the Book of the Scorpion, it is said that all religions cause embarassment to their followers by making them “act” on false beliefs and a pretend structure. It says that “God”, the “Almighty”, “Jehovah”, etc. are all toys in the game of war.

The Book of the Scorpion has been the basis for major debates, even today. Published in 1580 alongside the other “Codes of Conduct”, the Book of the Scorpion was immediately used as the basis for the law infrastructure of Witzgall’s Fourth Reich.

The military was used as the police force for the first time in Witzgall’s history, replacing “street cops”. The military walked the streets, clenching their large caliber rifles of the time (usually 50 calibers) with orders to shoot anybody praying or, as silly as this may seem, looking up to the sky with open arms. Hundreds of civilians were arrested for practicing any sort of religion, but the military especially looked down upon those of the Muslim faith.

Adolf Pacz died in his sleep, peacefully, in 1612, at the age of 77. A statue was erected in his honor. After all, he had instated a new age of Faith-based government…even if that faith was atheism.

Following Adolf was Joseph Lungz, a strong and very diplomatic man. He, too, was elected by the general public. Lungz was an ex-Colonel of the Witzgallian army, and was shot while patrolling the capital’s streets. While gun violence wasn’t too common back then, as guns were banned unless you were of military status, it did happen from time to time.

Fuhrer Lungz stopped gun control in what would be considered one of the worst decisions in Witzgall’s history: banning guns outright. The military was almost completely disbanded due to Lungz’s drastic change of law. Lungz added onto the “Codes of Conduct” with another book, which was called The Book of the Snake. This book outlined the details of the no-gun policy, which stated that “any civilian or human being wielding a firearm of any sort, no matter the size nor caliber, will be immediately put before the Glorious Fuhrer and charged with High Treason. The traitor then will be put to death, if the Fuhrer does see fit.”

The military officials sought justice in this matter, felling that Lungz had abused his power as the Fuhrer. They called for an uprising, a movement to stop the Fuhrer. Immediately, the Witzgallian Military sought out the nation of Phoria, an Empirate State that had been conquered during the Crusades, to take out Lungz.

The nation of Phoria, which at the time was a socialist democracy, obliged. On October 16th, 1630, Fuhrer Lungz was stabbed six times while sleeping. The murder did not shock the public at all. In fact, numerous diplomats stated they had expected Lungz to be killed much sooner, and all but anticipated his death and end of control.

Just four months later, on February 13th 1631, the Council of Generals did away with public elections, as so far they had proved fairly unreliable and devastating to the nation’s reputation as a powerful and mighty world power. The Council held a summit to decide on who would be Witzgall’s next Fuhrer.

The Fifth Reich, Das Kampf

The Fifth Reich is commonly referred to as “Das Kampf”, which means The Struggle. The Fifth Reich is referred to as The Struggle due to the massive amounts of nonstop fighting between political parties during the Council of Generals “quest” for a righteous leader, who would lead Witzgall back into the previous state of power and control in the world.

Four major “parties” emerged in The Struggle, them being: the “Aryan Revolution”, which wanted to restore the Aryan Faith into the Witzgallian infrastructure, and was made up of mainly the military officers (such as Generals, Colonels, etc.); the “Republicans”, which was the aristocratic caste of the social structure, a class of wealthy men and women; the “Democrats”, which were the lower-to-middle class civilians, as well the majority of military soldiers; and finally the “Andisins”, which was a small group of xenophobic socialists, who believed that Witzgallians had the right to claim the entire world from the infidels currently in power.

The Council went through several “stages” of voting, each one being carefully monitored and sabotaged by each and every party, trying to maneuver themselves into power. The public was blind to the corruption and treachery going on within the parties and the Council, and was not permitted to vote. Only the majority of the Council would count, needing a 2/3 vote to pass a party’s nominated leader into power. Indirectly, the public had a part in the elections, being responsible to pick (from each party) a single representative to go up for vote before the Council.

The “Aryan Revolution” bribed numerous Council members, burning ballots and kidnapping and/or killing opposing party members. The Revolutionists lost the vote by a major landslide, with the Republicans winning the majority of the Council with promises of wealth and slaves to those who voted in their favor, regardless of the outcome.

Leading the Fifth Reich’s beginning was John Hartford, a wealthy land owner in northern Witzgall. He was famous for his farming inventions and technological findings. Being an inventor in himself, Fuhrer Hartford helped design one of the first compact bombs, which would later be used against him.

In 1570, one year after Hartford’s inauguration, his wife left him for another man. This depressed the Fuhrer greatly, and he ended up retreating to the confines of his office for nearly weeks on end.

On June 18th 1582, Hartford delivered a groundbreaking speech to the masses of the Witzgallian Army, calling upon them to wage war against the Phorians to the south. A memorable line from the speech was as follows: “In unity, there is strength. In division, there is weakness. Now, I ask you men, as you stand before me. Are you strong? Are you weak? You must ask yourself this question every night when you kiss that picture of your wife and fall asleep to the dream that one day, one day…one day you will be reunited with your love and grasp her in you arms. The enemy thinks the same way, gentlemen. Who deserves to see their wives, my comrades? Both cannot. No, both cannot win. There is no neutrality in this war, no equality. You must win. For your country, for your wives, for your blessed children. You ‘’must’’ win.”

He died six months later from an unexplained cause, which is reported to have been an aneurysm of sorts.

His only son, Jonathan Hartford II, took his father’s place as Fuhrer. A loyal and patriotic soldier, Jonathan II had been drafted into the Witzgall-Phoria war, and was on the battlefield when he learned of his fathers death by messenger.

Twenty years of fighting and bloodshed later, Jonathan II took his rightful place in the government. A regular soldier fighting for his country, he was perceived as an unbelievably skilled soldier, surviving two decades of hell in a foreign land.

Jonathan II died six years after he came home from the field of war, in the year of 1608. His death was by infection, caused by a crossbow wound to the lower back during the war.

Following Jonathan II, the Republicans held the power for over another century. Ending their power also ended the Fifth Reich and created a new era in the Witzgallian history, an era of absolute corruption.

The Sixth Reich, Death of a Nation

During the Sixth Reich of Witzgall, the nation suffered increasing poverty and corruption. Most refer to the Sixth Reich as the "Death of a Nation", for the somewhat "dark age" that it had entered. Corrupt politicians, crooked judges, and an ominously bribed police force governed the peoples within the land.

In the late 1700s, the "administration" was lead by a man named Thomas Burkart. Burkart was the most corrupt political figure ever to lead the Witzgallian people. Paid off severly by the Phorians, he proposed numerous documents that severely underpowered the governmental institution. The Phorian people were given the majority of representatives in the Council of Generals, which further ended the rights of the people by putting the colonies before the Motherland.

This agitated the people of Witzgall, who, in 1798, rioted against the Council. The riot lasted four days, and ended in tradgedy. Explosions demolished the capital city, killing seven thousand people. The total casualty number was seven thousand, four hundred and two. Ninety of those deaths were Council members, eighty four of which were Phorian representatives.

The citizens of the Reich critized Burkart, who declared a 'righteous seperation of the nation' into the "Holy Motherland", which contained Northern Witzgall and Phoria, and the "Anarchist State of Westminster", which was made up of Southern Witzgall and it's minor outlying islands. Burkart then declared war upon Westminster, citing the Bible as his guide. Another crusade struck shore upon Witzgall as civil war broke out.

The war following the seperation of the nation lasted nearly two centuries, ending in 1966, when Klaus Kain XVI, the Kaiser of the Holy Motherland at the time, was stabbed to death by the Minister of the Interior on an itnernational live television broadcast. During this time of civil war, Southern Witzgall boomed in Industrial Revolutions, while the Motherland began signing numerous Non-Agression Pacts with neighboring nations to try and enhance it's influence in the world.

The Motherland, however, ended up being defeated in a counter assault of it's shorelines, in which Westminster's massive armada placed an impenetrable embargo upon the Motherland, sinking and robbing all merchant vessels that made an attempt to break through. This embargo demolished Nothern Witzgall's economical advantage, and lead to the depression that the Motherland entered half a year later.

Following the embargo, the Anarchist State of Westminster led an all-out invasion utilizing ground forces en-masse. Destroying all Northern Witzgallian defenses, the South had risen up and overtaken their fundamentalist neighbors. Only Phoria remained, yet it, too, would soon crumble under the militaristic might of Westminster. Only four months later, ground troops landed on Phoria's shore and stormed the Senate building, capturing fourteen senators and killing eight. Then, Westminster's National Government declared the Senate a "seperatist body" and demanded it be set afire.

Kaiser Klaus Kain XVI was within the Senate building when the Westminster Army General, Vladimir Riesen, demanded that he sign a treaty with Westminster and reunite the republic. Kain denied the request, and on live television, made a speech denouncing the state of Westminster as "the true evil of the world." While making this infamous speech, one of the national guards stabbed him in the side, whispering in his ear, "Ein Kampf, Ein Sieg. Fur die Republik."

The Seventh Reich, The Red Storm Rises

After the seperatist war, civil factions began rising up out of the dirt and trying to combat the unified nation. Most groups at this time supported the Holy Motherland's Christain Fundamentalism even though they had lost the war entirely. Many of these groups resorted to violence, such as building burning and public beatings of police officers and government officials.

Riots broke out annualy to show the hatred for the new "Ministry-run Governmental Infrastructure", in which a Prime Minister was chosen by a popular vote and he or she would appoint a cabinet of ministers to help run the nation's structural government. The Witzgallians despised this change, and many began joining the anarchist factions which fought to suppress all governmental influence on the civilian population.

However, in order to combat these insurrections, Witzgallian militarism rose to an new high. Military police, carrying standard issue assault rifles and wearing BDUs, stood on every street corner in major cities and policed the public themselves, most to their own descretion. The public viewed this as martial law, and rose to arms even more so then before. A rise in both civil insurrection, which led to increased militarism, made Witzgall into a Fascist Republic.

Mass producing of weapons and munitions began, putting Witzgall in a war-time state, even during peace. The international community requested that Witzgall slow its weapons production rate, yet the Ministry insisted it was necessary to keep the balance of well being within the Republic.

Civil arrests were also at a record high, and a new "Act of Intolerance" was introduced and passed through the Senate. Within this act, the rights to public speech and protest were stripped away, and were deemed punishable by any means necessary to quell the "heresy against the Republik of Witzgall."

The Eight Reich

The Great Eighth Reich of Witzgall, which is the modern-day Witzgallian Republik, is an influencial nation to the international community. A militaristic ministry-run state, which most nations consider a totalarian dictatorship, Witzgall is massively populated and advanced in its own right.

The Great Eighth Reich is on the rise to becoming one of the most powerful nations of all time, if not already one of them. Industrial and technological revolutions give way to Witzgall's powerful military might, and its economy is extremely powerful in society's international market.

The private sector, which is obnoxiously large in the Reich, is dominated by the massive Arms Manufacturing Industry. Most technology created and/or used by the nation is available for export to allies. Defense, Law & Order, and Healthcare have been the top three budget demands in recent years.

The Ministry is run by Prime Minister Aleksei Vlichka, an aged ex-General of the Army. Hardheaded, intelligent, and extremely serious, Vlichka is a man whose description never matches his personality. The cabinet's 'set-up' is listed below:

Prime Minister: Aleksei Vlichka

Male Ministers: Minister of National Affairs: Andrei Rachsha IV Minister of Defense: Dmitriy Maloszyi Minister of Transportation: Boris Kadova Minister of Education: Yuriy Zafatai Minister of Environment and Natural Resources: Ruslan Efiop'skaia Minister of Foreign Affairs: Konstantin Strotsevich Minister of the Treasury: Mihail Blazhei Minister of Health & Nutrition: Boris Oblech III

Female Ministers: Minister of Commerce: Valentina Kakmuzh Minister of Housing and Urban Development: Yelena Bleklyi Minister of Justice: Kseniya Lapa Minister of the Interior: Anzhelika Vzverniguba Minister of Agriculture: Oksana Wahaniecz

The Great Eighth Reich is still a militaristic power, and Aleksei seems to not be making any changes in order to slow that down. 'The war machine is still moving at a steady pace.'
