The cup used an all-new scorinator designed by Kaze Progressa that incorporated style modifiers - an idea well-established in the Under-21 World Cup but not used in the World Cup before. The modifiers were less extreme than those in the Under-21 World Cup, as laid out in their bid to host the Cup.
Surprises in qualifying included newcomers Bakostrovia, despite a dismal Baptism of Fire performance, missing out on qualifying only on goal difference. The failure of Commerce Heights and EL CID THE HERO to qualify was also surprising.
In the finals, the major shock was Bettia reaching the quarter-finals, losing only to the eventual champions Starblaydia.
