World Cup 37 was hosted by Ad'ihan & Novapsolu, notable that both nations were first-time hosts, but were new nations of veteran users: Liverpool England (Ad'ihan) and Legalese (Novapsolu). Ranked at 71st and 49th respectively, there would be little chance of both qualifying for the Cup proper had they not been hosting it. The Ad'ihan-Novapsolu bid was uncontested.

The most shocking qualifer for the Cup was 168th ranked Oickoidia (puppet of British Londinium), who managed to finish 3rd in their group, earning a playoff berth, beating out a group that included: #104 Taeshan, #42 Lovisa and #27 The HURD; then managed to defeat #40 Sativaville in a 2-leg playoff 3-2. Oickoidia's feat is unprecedented, even when compared to Quakmybush's qualifying run at World Cup 29, as Oickoidia did not post a roster or a single RP during the Qualifiers. The cup is also noted for the return of former World Cup champion Casari; in spite of fielding a "national" team of amateurs (the team was RPed as faking their way into the cup, without being recognized by their FA), they would finish third in their qualifying group, only to lose 4-0 to another former champ, Vilita, in the playoffs. However, Casari went on to win the affiliated Cup of Harmony, the twenty-ninth edition.

Az-cz won the tournament, the first champion besides Ariddia or Bettia since World Cup 31.
