Leninist Dynasty

World War III in the world setting of Leninist Dynasty is most often referred to as World War Zero, with a seperate article. Only the Earth IV setting has an explicit mention of World War III.

World IV

In the Earth IV setting of the world of Leninist Dynasty, the premise is that during the 21st century, after serious social and political unrest the first sign of which we already see today in RL, Earth enters a Golden Era, of peace and prosperity, in which nations cease to exist and all people of the world are ruled by a world government (though the legitimacy and goodwill of this government are slightly put in question). Only a handful of revolutionary nations in South America refuse to join the World Coalition Government. The WCG establishes the Outlive project (which finally becomes the Seeding project) to ensure supply of resources for mankind and puts down unrest. Approximately 2500 A.D., the Golden Era ends with a localy limited, yet devastating nuclear war in South America, when it becomes apparent that an alien race, the Quetzal, originating from the planet Mars, used the area to establish bases on terran soil. The nuclear strikes were sufficient to wipe of Quetzal presence on Earth itself, but the following war against the much larger space fleet of the invarders was fought on all of Earth and is referred to as the "Third World War", despite the fact that it was fought by Earth against an extraterrestial opponent. Although mankind won through the use an interdimensional portal, the war left the World Government shattered, major world cities in ruines and the Golden Age ceased. After a short period of time, the Bunker Era, the Shattered Age followed, in which two nation were predominant: the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics and the Allies. The Psionics, which had played an important part in defeating the aliens were now feared. They were deported to Pzion, a reservation under strong military obervation. But with the end of the WCG, there was no authority to maintain control over them, and this was how the Empire of Pzion was founded.

Dragons of Metropolis

Several thousand years ago, the world of Metropolis was visited by an cosmic deity, which became known as Kyrion. Kyrion caused an mass extinction event by unknown means and eliminated the races that had previously lived on the planet, the evolutionary peak of which were the Dragons, which are identical to Reptiloids. Instead, Kyrion either created or protected the Human race, and requested from then to be worshipped as a god.

Little further is known about the early history of the world, but apparently about 20 years prior to the events of today, a World War broke out between an unknown Empire led by Khan and a coalition of free nations when the Empire rebelled against the worship Kyrion. The course and circumstances of this war are consequently blurred in Metropolis, but apparently, there was some sort of direct supernatural involvement by both Kyrion and the remains of the Dragons. During this war, the Empire mainly fought with a special force led by the Emperor himself, the Dragoons. These were soldiers augmented through the implantion of Dragon Souls, which gave them great psionic power. Through the use of these Dragoons, the Empire quickly gained advantage. However, though the reign of Kyrion was effectively ended, the Empire, too, did not prevail. The Emperor perished in the conflict and was burried in an "Imperial Vault". The remains of Kyrion's followers retreated to an semi-orbital habitat known as "Parsadis". The world remained as an irradiated heap of dust and craters, until the city of Metropolis began to rise.
