Wye City
Wye City is the administrative and cultural center of the First Distributed Kingdom of Weyr. A self-contained distribution, it is divided into forty-two municipalities and three semi-autonomous prefectures. About 1.6 billion people, 46% percent of the country's population, live in Wye City, while approximately 1.9 billion people live in the entire metropolitan area. The population density averages at 701,000 persons per square kilometer.
Wye City is located on the northeastern edge of Wyr, on the southwestern slopes of the Northward Spine mountains, in the Central Pacific. It shares co-jurisdiction with the Weyrean national government over all stationary orbital facilities within the Earthbound Station Economic Exclusion Zone.
As the national center of transport, manufacturing, research, politics, business, finance, education, media, and culture, Wye City has the highest concentration of shipping and transit facilities, industrial complexes, laboratories, corporate headquarters, financial institutions, universities, museums, theaters, and shopping and entertainment establishments in Weyr.

Wye City is Weyr's largest domestic and international hub for rail, ground, and aerospace transportation. Public transportation within Wye City is dominated by an extensive network of trains and subways, universally called steamers. Busses and trams play a secondary role, since unlike many urban areas Wye City lacks an extensive network of highways. The Wye City Metropolitan Transit Authority shares control over mass transit with a variety of private operators.
Wye City is linked to the rest of the nation by rail lines, highways, and the River Wye. The Wye City International Skyport is a major gateway for international travelers, and handles almost all the nation's international aerospace flights.
