Introduction

The X-02 Wyvern is a stealth multi-role fighter jet with "switchblade" wings designed by Neucom Inc and the Erusean AeroSpace Administration. This next-generation fighter serves in the Neo-Erusean Republican Air Force and in the Neucom Emergency Unit.

Description

Design began in 2002 by the former NEMI, until it was merged to form Neucom Incorporated in 2003. Production began in early 2004 with Neucom building 25 X-02s a month. Instead of bomb bays like the F-22 Raptors and many other stealth designs, the X-02 utlizes launch ports that are "cradled" within the aircraft under its engines. The X-02 uses 3-D thrust vectoring to enhance its manuvering capabilities. At high speeds(325kts+) the Wyvern retracts its outer wings to reduce drag. At lower speeds the Wyvern extends these wings and increases lift which also increases its manuverbility. The pilot's helmet mounts a targeting system similar to that of the MiG-29 which allows the pilot to lock-on to targets not in front of the aircraft, giving it an advantage over other planes in a close-in knife-fight.
