Auxiliary

Ferret

The Ferret is a small, self-contained mobile sensor platform that can be used to extend the effective range of a ship’s sensors and locate specific targets remotely. Equipped with preventative defenses and anti-projectile lasers, it is a very powerful detection and basic analysis tool. The Xanthalian model also carries a space-time bubble generator.

Weko

The Weko’s interior is simply a padded compartment, just big enough to hold its two occupants. Powered with a large lithium battery, its only systems are a simple carbon dioxide scrubber, maneuvering thrusters, and distress signal emitter, all automatically activated upon ejection and operated by a tiny onboard computer with the help of proximity sensors. With no space-time bubble generator and no defenses, the Weko is a very basic, straightforward escape pod.

Combat

Gel

The Gel is the foundation for the Xanthalian defense forces, excelling far beyond galactic standards in speed and maneuverability. It compensates for its weak shields with two highly accurate laser cannons, which it uses to shoot down enemy projectiles and weaken the shields of enemy starships. Its main weapon is the powerful forward-mounted antiproton cannon, used primarily for offensive purposes. The Gel carries no space-time mines, making it more defensively vulnerable in planespace, but a single-barrel rail gun on the ventral hull increases its combat versatility.

Hokal

Designed to complement lighter attack ships, the Hokal class is all but useless in close-quarters combat. It is designed for long range forward assault. With its pylons deployed it exposes auxiliary forward shield projectors, four offensive grade laser cannons, a high-powered antiproton cannon, and its main weapon: 56 space-time mines, each loaded in an independent launch bay for simultaneous firing. Only the ship’s mines are used are used in most battles. The ship’s energy weapons are reserved as last-resort offense and defense at close range.

Lesu

The Lesu class patrol ship is designed to be an all-around warship, specialized for independent operation and defense. Equipped with a full array of powerful weapons, the Lesu class incorporates a balanced mixture of design elements to make a quick, relatively long-range starship with strong offensive ability. Because of its powerful weapons and shields, range becomes an issue during extended periods of alert. Also, its size and the fact that it often operates away from other combat vessels makes it vulnerable when facing multiple enemy targets.

Command

Mobile Operations Station

A large, well-defended facility designed to serve as a command post and staging area for military personnel and operations, modified for mobility and planespace travel. Equipped with station and fleet command centers as well as internal docking facilities for shuttles and external ports for larger ships, it can also service and supply other vessels, more so than the normal Operations Station. It is extremely pokey, but can achieve a formidable rate of speed given enough time to accelerate.

Omsai

The Omsai class is a tactical command and coordination ship. Built with the help of advanced Siesatian electronics, it has a small crew and is largely computer controlled. The class boasts remarkable communication and sensor abilities, and is host to an advanced artificial intelligence that handles its many advanced functions and even an electronic intelligence to protect it from electronic warfare. Its actual combat capabilities are very limited, and it relies on its powerful shields to preserve it in battle.

Multirole

Alphashra

A versatile vessel, large by Xanthalian standards but still quite compact; the Alphashra class is the ultimate application of domestic and foreign technology to create a multi-role, non-combat starship for any task that Xanthal’s smaller, more specialized vessels cannot accomplish. It incorporates a large number of unique systems and is very expensive to construct and maintain, as a single ship requires the efforts of contractors from several nations.

Bodemia

The Bodemia class is built fast and tough. Equipped with advanced long- and short-range sensors, its primary function in times of war is to autonomously scout out enemy fleets, obtain data, and return safely to deliver whatever information it has collected. It has two forward defensive space-time mine launchers, each loaded with five mines. It is also equipped with aft laser cannons to fend off pursuing ships and projectiles. In peacetime it can serve as a science or courier ship.

Carrin

With little advanced function and only token combat ability, the main purpose of Carrin type ships is to provide an inexpensive platform for establishing a Xanthalian presence in areas of deep space. Equipped with a rudimentary Xanthalian-built hyperspace jump drive and planespace navigation capability, Carrins are cheap and easily constructed, making them ideal scouts and a vital response unit when a situation arises out of range of a sord. The Carrin also carries two Calicke shuttles with hyperdrive systems instead of their standard space-time bubble generators.

Repolin

The Repolin class is the result of Xanthalian efforts to create a ship capable of autonomous operation in areas of deep space inaccessible by sord. It is large and costly, but very powerful by Xanthalian standards. While the Repolin lacks the versatility of the Alphashra, it is constructed exclusively with Xanthalian technology and is significantly less expensive to build and maintain, making it more practical for general use. As well as the planespace navigation capability common to Xanthalian ships, the Repolin utilizes a rudimentary Xanthalian-built hyperspace jump drive. Its Calicke shuttles have the same drive in place of space-time bubble generators.

Transport

Calicke

The Calicke light transport and its many variants are the most mass-produced of all Xanthalian ships. Incredibly functional, most larger ships carry at least one aboard to use both for transportation between vessels and facilities and as an escape vehicle when evacuation orders are issued. Because its facilities total up to be little more than engines, life support systems, and a basic computer information storage and navigation, the two-compartment Calicke, though small, has a great deal of empty space by volume for transporting people, cargo, or any combination of the two.

A Sazona modified for mass personnel transport. Capable of planetary water landings, it can be used to carry and sustain up to 1,000,000 soldiers along with all necessary supplies and equipment to and from surface worlds as well as between facilities in space. The tough, unarmed Lanyuna is best suited to delivering into non-combat areas behind established defenses, but it can unload under fire for limited periods by extending its shields, or deploy troops and smaller equipment by Calicke.

Sazoil

The Sazoil class supply ship is fully equipped to carry everything from weapons to food to fuel and deploy them where needed. Its versatility allows it to operate equally well as a routine transport ship or as part of a vital supply line to a battlefront and swap functions as a cargo or passenger ship with a one day refit. It has a long range, but travels more slowly than most combat ships. Lightly armed and moderately shielded, the Sazoil is usually escorted when any trouble is expected.

Sazona

The Sazona is the heavy cargo ship of the Xanthalian fleet. Capable of planetary water landings, it can be used to carry large amounts of cargo to and from surface worlds as well as between facilities in space. Though it has the capability to serve the smaller-scale supply functions of the Sazoil class, the tough, unarmed Sazona is best suited to long, direct hauls in non-combat situations. It can carry passengers instead of cargo in emergencies.

Segno

A very small craft, what few facilities the Segno shuttle has are devoted to making its single passenger comfortable. The simple but elegant command center is alone in the forward compartment, where the pilot (if one is aboard) spends his or her time. The rear compartment has a small lounge and bedroom area, as well as limited storage for consumables. On solo missions, control of the Segno can be left to a basic autopilot if the occupant wishes to retire to the rear compartment. While it is only intended for one passenger, the VIP facilities of the Segno easily accommodate two. Thus, it can operate effectively with one, two, or three occupants. It also has a single, forward-mounted laser cannon to deter attackers.
