Today's Xirnium is a vibrant, secular and liberal social democratic republic that boasts protections of civil and political rights unrivalled anywhere else on Earth. One of the most modern nations in the world, and a leader amongst European States, Xirnium and her rich, long and proud culture have played an incalculable role in advancing the noble pursuits of literature, science and parliamentary democracy.

Geography

Location

Modern Xirnium identifies herself economically and socio-politically with the geopolitical region of the so-called Europe-Atlantic, and is located geographically in north-western Europe, between the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea.

Climate

Xirnium's climate is mostly temperate and cold temperate. Although not infrequently chilly, its weather is comparatively mild given the nation's latitude due to the moderating influences of the North Atlantic Current and the existence of numerous large lakes and rivers. The days are frequently overcast. Cold, cloudy winters and cool, partly cloudy summers characterise all but the southernmost parts of Xirnium. The country is rainy year-round and can be described as subarctic in the furthest north.

Terrain

Xirnium's terrain consists mostly of rugged hills and low mountains interspersed with large lakes, fertile valleys and high plateaus; gently rolling plains in west and southwest; alps and rugged mountains in the east; heavily forested, glaciated arctic tundra in far north.
