The zaire is the official currency of Zaire. 100 makuta (singular likuta) equal one zaire. 100 sengi equal one likuta. The current exchange rate is 437.86 zaires per 1 U.S. dollar. On the face of every banknote is the portrait of President Mobutu Sese Seko, who has ruled the country since November 1965. The currency code is ZRZ.
