Info: NSEconomy RC XML |
Feudal Japan (FJ) is an interventionist region with a mandate to protect small, often new regions that find themselves the victim of invaders (see the section below entitled Tenka Fubu). FJ also encourages the sharing of knowledge about, and role-play in the spirit of, real-life Japan as it was during the middle ages.
Feudal Japan is a prefecture of The New Meritocracy and presently open to new members, both casual and active. FJ requests member nations to adopt its feudalist flag style (narrow vertical, with appropriate colours befitting rank) and the koku as national currency, but these are not enforced requirements of admission.
Contents
Ranks for Member Nations
All regional promotions are determined and granted by the Shogun. The Shogun may also announce demotions (rarely), in response to lack of a nation's regional activity or a failure to comply with the Shogun's policies.
New Members (Jizamurai)
Nations newly arrived in Feudal Japan. Nations must reside in the region for at least two weeks (or one week with active forum activity) to be promoted to Ronin.
Casual Members (Ronin)
Nations are welcome to join Feudal Japan without participating in its RP aspect or its regional forum. They will receive the basic rank of 'ronin', a feudal Japanese warrior without recognized loyalties.
Active Members (Samurai)
Nations which register on the regional forum and play an active role in regional development will receive the rank of 'samurai' in recognition of their efforts. Samurai are feudal Japanese warriors who have pledged their loyalty to the Shogun (i.e. the region's founder).
Advanced Ranks (Daimyo)
Nations going beyond the call of duty, or who assume pre-eminent roles among the adminstrative nations of the region, will be awarded the rank of 'daimyo' - a Japanese feudal lord. Daimyo become members of the Egoshu, an inner council and advisory body to the Shogun with
Rulers of Feudal Japan (Shogun & Kanrei)
The Shogun possesses ultimate authority and dictatorial power within the region of Feudal Japan and extending to all members of the Tenka Fubu alliance. The Shogun possesses veto power over all decisions made by his/her Daimyo and the Egoshu, as well as Feudal Japan's legal court decisions. The Shogun's second (Kanrei) acts as his/her right-hand to help implement and enforce the orders of the Shogun.
The Government of Feudal Japan
All government offices are hosted on the FJ Regional Forum.
Minka
In the Minka, all nations in the region can discuss ideas and information that relate to Feudal Japan, regardless of whether they hold government office. The Speaker is a nominated/elected position within the Minka responsible for bringing forward issues of concern from the populace for government consideration and action.
Hyororyosho - Ministers
The Hyororyosho is the home of government offices and the Egoshu. Ministers will post available positions here, as well as their reports on what they are doing. Feedback from all members is always welcomed, whether posted directly in the ministerial forums or via the Minka. The Shogun reserves the right to reshuffle the members of his Hyororyosho at any time, although the Shogun may entertain requests to maintain status quo positions at his/her discretion. The Shogun controls all positions presently designated as vacant:
- Shogun - Supreme Ruler of Feudal Japan and Tenka Fubu (incumbent: Burn up Blade)
- Kanrei - Office of the Prime Minister. Second-in-command after the Shogun. Responsible to coordinate the other ministry positions and head the Council of Ministries. Responsible for the running of the region in the absence of the Shogun. (incumbent: Hotti)
- Jibusho - Office of the Interior Minister. Promotes activity on the regional message board (RMB) and the forums. Must be visibly active on the RMB and forums. Must welcome new nations by TG. Also responsible for letting new nations know of the flag and common currency requests. Encourages all UN nations to endorse the current delegate. Keeps track of new members of the forums. (incumbent: Many Little Buddahs)
- Dairyo - Office of Recruitment & Immigration. In charge of recruitment. Must answer all TGs to recruiter in an honorable fashion. Tracks all nations that enter and leave Feudal Japan for a specified time. (incumbent: vacant)
- Gaimusho - Office of the Foreign Minister. Handles preliminary requests for alliance, InterRegional Diplomacy, and oversees ambassador activity. (incumbent: vacant)
- Hyobusho - Minister of the Gekokujo. Minister of Defence and War; occupies the Kodokan (barracks). Answers directly to the Shogun and Kanrei. Will command the Gekokujo, both in domestic defense and foreign actions. Will also handle recruiting to the Gekokujo. (incumbent: vacant)
- Ometsuke - Minister of the Tsukai-ban. Answers directly to the Shogun and Kanrei. Will oversee all aspects of intelligence gathering and processing (must complete training from the Kanrei). (incumbent: Hotti)
- Udaijin - Minister of Judicial Affairs; occupies the Gyobusho (court). Will act as Feudal Japan's District Attorney. Will process all claims of flaming, spamming, and other wrongful actions by regional members as brought before the Gyôbushô. Will make recommendations as to punishments for actions that are not deemed honorable. (incumbent: vacant)
Hyororyosho - Departmental Heads
The following departments report to the Jibusho, Minister of the Interior:
- Okurasho - Department of Finance & Statistics. Tracks the financial progress of the region. Supplies these reports to the region via RMB and forum postings. (incumbent: Knights of Zion)
- United Nations (UN Delegate) - Department of United Nations Affairs. The nation occupying this position is normally elected by the Egoshu, although the Shogun may choose to assign it directly. Subjects all UN resolutions to regional discussion and submits his/her vote according to regional majority opinion. Also, coordinates new proposal ideas for submission to UN consideration. (incumbent: Hotti)
- Bunkachô - Agency of Cultural Affairs. Observes and encourages the creative endevours of Feudal Japan and its government, such as the creation of flags, creative writing and the mapping project. (incumbent: Fuji Gaijin)
- Takara Shimbun - The Official Newspaper of Feudal Japan. Used by the Shogun, ministers and department heads to transmit news of national and international significance to the region. Articles printed in the Takara Shimbun are available to international syndication.
Egoshu
The Parliament of Feudal Japan. Ministers and department heads gather here to discuss issues, and to vote upon governmental matters specifically pertaining to the region of Feudal Japan.
Bakufu
The Bakufu is the public address platform of the Shogun, where announcements are made to the region (e.g. promotions, cabinet shuffles, etc.)
Kodokan
The Kodokan is the home of the Gekokujo - Feudal Japan's army. Members assemble at the Kodokan to sign up for and/or to stay updated on military events.
Tenka Fubu
Tenka Fubu is an alliance of nations led by Feudal Japan. It is an idea founded upon experience with the failures of defender regions to protect the most weak and vulnerable. Feudal Japan lends its aid to regions of NationStates that request and require it. The focus of its defensive mission is small regions attempting to exist peacefully in relative solitude that are ignored and/or forgotten by larger defender organizations in their time of need. Invader regions constantly prey on these unprotected regions, causing serious harm to the morale of nations that reside there. This situation is unacceptable.
Through Tenka Fubu, the Shogun of Feudal Japan is able to build an empire that extends its protection over these nations and their regions. Feudal Japan works to establish this empire through the following means:
Tenka Fubu Egoshu (hosted at the FJ Forum)
A meeting place for members of the Tenka Fubu Egoshu (designated by the Shogun; typically they are daimyo and regional ministers), who have authority to debate and vote upon issues of relevance to all members of the Tenka Fubu alliance.
Tenka Fubu Office (hosted at the FJ Forum)
Housing place for reference documents of relevance to all Tenka Fubu alliance members.
Ryoguko (Tenka Fubu members)
Dying regions, annexed directly into Tenka Fubu. Kokushus are placed in these provinces to rebuild and promote activity. All provincial member nations are awarded the same status and opportunity as those of Feudal Japan itself. At present there are no Ryoguko members of Tenka Fubu.
Kuni (Tenka Fubu members)
Struggling regions taken on as protectorates. Joshu who wish to become Kokushu are given the opportunity to help stabilize these regions. Current Kuni regions are:
Alumni of Tenka Fubu
The following regions once received assistance from Feudal Japan as members of the Tenka Fubu alliance, and have since freely chosen to follow a course of independence once Feudal Japan's protection was no longer sought or required:
External Alliances (not Tenka Fubu members)
Alliances with smaller regions that will agree to joint military actions in defense of helpless regions. Current alliances are with the following regions:
