The Liberal Utopia of Maineiacs is participating in its 2nd Winter Olympics in Keto, Jasi'yun. These Olympics are taking place in the year 2128, by the Maineiacs Calendar. The Maineiacs delegation in Keto consists of 140 atheletes; nearly double the number sent 4 years earlier to the 1st Olympiad in Aeropag, Commerce Heights. Many of the atheletes from the Aeropag Olympics have returned to the Games in Keto, including Bronze Medal winners Keenan Waters, in Men's Halfpipe, William "Skeet" Shorter in Men's 1500m Speedskating, and most of their Bronze-Medalist Men's Hockey team. Moguls Skier Frank Lloyd retired after Aeropag, and did not compete in Keto. In Keto, Maineiacs sent atheletes to compete in events in which the nation did not compete in 2124. In one event, the Men's 20k Individual Biathlon, newcomer Damon Ryan won the Silver medal; something no Maineiacs athelete manged to do at Aeropag. Controversy, has however, reared its head over the MOC delegation once again. In Aeropag, after a disappointing first week of competetion, in which no medals were won, Sen. George Hiram (Socialist, Plymouth Province) began calls for the team to be withdrawn, and MOC President Luther Goran to be arrested upon his return to Maineiacs for "embarrassing the country". Voters in his district of Plymouth (Sen. Hiram represnted the Boston suburbs) apprently decided that it was the Senator who had embarrassed the country -- he was recalled for mental instability in a special election a month later. The MBC (Maineiacs Broadcasting Corporation) commentator who had joined in Sen. Hiram's call for withdrawl was fired. The Keto Olympics would also be marred by contoversy. MOC officials allege that Shorttrack speedskater Regina Franklin was tripped by a skater from Tynelia in the final lap of the Women's 3000m Shorttrack Relay, causing the team to be disqualified.
