The Bell-class battlecruiser is a class of battlecruiser in service with the Asgarnian Naval Force. It is a heavy missile cruiser, and carries an impressive armament. It was developed because of the lack of battlecruisers within the navy and the relative weakness of many existing cruisers.

The ship entered service in 2007.

History

The first thirty five units were laid down in 2005, and due to prefabrication construction, they all entered service in 2007.

As of late, the ships have not been involved in any wartime situations.

Armament

This class has an impressive armament of missiles and guns as well as electronics. Its largest radar antenna is mounted on its foremast, and called "Dead Ringer". The Bell class's main weapons are 20 SSM-19 missiles mounted on deck, designed to engage large surface targets, and air defense is provided for with 12 SAM-280 launchers with 96 missiles and 2 SAM-290 with 40 missiles.

Other weapons are the ACIWS advanced 35mm CIWS, RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launcher, triple-tube 25" torpedo launchers, ASRL-19 anti-submarine rocket launcher, and 130mm multipurpose guns.

Combat Systems

The ships are fitted with the AA/N-10000X electronics suite, and carry a targeting and tracking system more powerful than the Aegis system. The ships also carry advanced over-the-horizon RADAR systems, as well as LIDAR and SONAR.

Powerplant

The ships are powered by two BC-1-DD David & David nuclear reactors with steam turbine boosting. This powerplant offers the ships about 152,000 S.H.P.
