Biography

Before the Wars, Chairkes was both an Imperial Senator and the representative of a powerful mercantile company in Scotllia. As a Senator, he was often criticized for graft and corruption, and used his corporate connections to amass great wealth. Aaron Chairkes was usually accompanied by beautiful female aides and strong bodyguards.

In 1779 he was nearly assassinated in Goonatileke while negotiating between the Scotllian Banking Guild and Simonvian Mining Operations over a mining dispute, but was saved by Dazaki Master Jelan Nerat.

As Magistrate of the SBG, Chairkes was also a key member of Simon Gilson 1st's Unity movement. He was present at the Separatist meeting in Synide in 1781 shortly before the battle of Iridon. After serving as a Senator during the term of Emperor Jing-Tor and during much his own reign, he abandoned the Empire and joined the Separatist movement with the promise of more wealth, and pledged the SBG’s forces to support the Separatist cause. Chairkes funded and marketed both anti-Dazaki and anti-Aaronian propaganda which helped keep the public in Separatist territory pro-war.

At the beginning of the war, Chairkes briefly headed a plot to oust Galan Naalas leader of the Empire. He pushed for an early attack on the training facility at Mont Ford, to be headed by his pawn, Emperor Simon Gilson 2nd. He hoped that an early victory there would shut down the Empire's war-making capabilities before the war even began, and that he would be given credit for winning the war, garnering enough political support to overthrow Naal.

However, both Naal and Scotllian King were aware of this plot. They arranged to have the Separatist's battle plans leaked, through Gilson. As a result, the outcome of the battle of Iridon was disastrous for the Separatists, and instead of being hailed as a glorious leader, Chairkes was deemed responsible for the failure and disgraced, which proved to be a fatal setback to his plans for a coup.

After the SBG was moved to Iridon , Chairkes was killed by Naal when the President’s sword slashed near Chairke’s neck. The rest of the SBG leadership died with him during Naal’s raid on the Separatist command center. Soon after his death, the SBG relocated its distribution companies to Synide, but with the death of Chairkes, the SBG faded into oblivion.
