King Ranulph Chassigne I was the first King of Sabrateur. He was the leader of the nomadic tribe which became the Sabratese people, and when they settled on the banks of the Synaptic Gulf, he took up seat as their King, and his bloodline gave Sabrateur its Royal Family. There is very little hard evidence about Ranulph, which makes him mysterious - his origins, parents and other artifacts remain undiscovered. There is an urban legend that Ranulph had a huge cache of treasure, and that it is buried in a vast chasm deep below Kashmir.

Characteristics

From the evidence that does exist, it seems that Ranulph was a just and virtuous man, characteristics which many Sabratese citizens uphold to this day. He is credited with uniting the Sabratese people under one leader and ideal, to become a prosperous and studious nation. For this reason, he is seen as an excellent role model, and the name 'Ranulph' is still a popular one.

Ranulph's Sabrateur

As Ranulph was the first King of Sabrateur, he was tasked with establishing the nation, both physically and otherwise. He is known to have promoted self-sufficiency amongst his people, and this led to them becoming economically efficient, trading in jewellery, carpentery and pottery with neighbouring lands.

Legacy

Ranulph's legacy continues to this day, and is evident in such institutions as the Ranulph Peace Medal. To this day there have been eight other kings to be named Ranulph, more than any other name. He is also believed to have inaugurated an early incarnation of the Sabrateur Heart.
