Katanga is the southernmost province of the Commonwealth of Northern Congo. It is rich in minerals, including cobalt, copper, tin, radium, uranium, and diamonds. Katanga is the most populous of Northern Congo's provinces, with a population of 4.5 million people. Its capitol city, Lubumbashi, is the headquarters of the Société d'extraction du Congo nordique, Northern Congo's national mining company.
