Revision as of 06:02, 19 August 2005

Triball is the most popular sport in Yuunli. The best teams play each other in the Major League.

On provincial and national level, only one team is permitted per town. Among the four players on the field, at least two must have lived in or near the town for at least two years.

Season

The Triball season in Yuunli comprises four rounds:

  1. Provincial Championships
  2. Qualification Matches
  3. Major League
  4. Finals

Provincial Championships

Championships are held in all 17 provinces. The best teams of each province participate in the Major League Qualification Matches.

Qualification Matches

Mich-Inzl

27 teams participate in the qualification matches on Mich-Inzl:

  • The 2 best teams from all twelve provinces
  • The 3rd best teams of the two largest provinces (Itupt and Kant)
  • Tenkas

These teams play several qualification rounds with a K.O. system, where the loser is out:

  1. 27 teams playing, 18 survive
  2. 18 teams playing, 12 survive
  3. 12 teams playing, 8 survive
  4. 8 teams plus last year's Mich-Inzl champion playing, 6 survive
  5. 6 teams playing, 4 survive

The 4 remaining teams are automatically qualified for Major League. The two losers play an additional qualification match against the 4th of Chirachi. Both the winner and the second of that match are qualified for Major League.

Chirachi

12 teams participate in the qualification matches in Chirachi:

  • The 2 best teams from all five provinces
  • The 3rd best teams of the two largest provinces (Poichbiezn and Tameza)

These teams play several qualification rounds with a K.O. system, where the loser is out:

  1. 12 teams playing, 8 survive
  2. 8 teams plus last year's Chirachi champion playing, 6 survive

Among the 6 "survivers", there are 3 winners and 3 teams scoring second. The winners are automatically qualified for Major League. The other 3 play a third qualification match.

The winner of the third qualification match plays against the 5th and 6th of Mich-Inzl. Both the winner and the second of that match are qualified for Major League.

Major League

9 teams (4, 5 or 6 from Mich-Inzl and 3 or 4 from Chirachi) participate in the Major League.

The main league season is divided into 3 sessions. A session comprises 4 weeks of matches and a week of rest. In each session, every team plays once against all of the other 8 teams, and every team has at least one home match. The same matches are played in all three sessions, but the home match right shifts.

So every team has 12 league matches, which are played in the league rather than the K.O. system (cf. Triball#Scoring for details).

The first session is usually in December, the second in January, the third in February.

Finals

The three best teams of Major League play in the finals, and the winner receives Yuunli's most valuable sports trophy.

The finals are usually around the vernal equinox (21 March), two weeks after the end of the 3rd Major League session.

Mich-Inzl and Chirachi champions

Having won the Major League finals, Tapuz automatically becomes this season's Chirachi champion.
Tapuz didn't even make it through the provincial championship in the 1st season.

The new Mich-Inzl champion is Tenbeak (the capital of Zentai), second best team in the Major League season, and loser in the finals.
Due to an unforgivable mistake of the league administration, Tenbeak didn't make it past the 3rd qualification round in the 1st season.
