Prime Minister became the title of the Head of the Cabinet of the Grand Duchy of Hamptonshire in April of 1793. Originally the Prime Minister acted as a sort of Chief Cabinet Secretary, he represented the wishes of the Throne to the Cabinet and informed the Grand Duke about the Cabinet Ministers' views and intentions. With the first ministry of Charles Allenby (1867-1888), the Prime Minister gained the status of Co-Head of Government with the Grand Duke. The Prime Minister became Supreme Commander of the Royal Armed Forces of Hamptonshire in 1942. The Ministry of the Civil Service Portfolio was added to the Office of the Prime Minister in 1930 and the Finance Portfolio was added in 2005.
