The Confederated Communes of Bashenk are an African nation, poor in terms of material wealth, but renowned for the quality of their health care and medical services.

Bashenk has three universities, all of which are open to foreign students. Enrolment is free for Bashenké students and those from nations deemed "Third World"; others must pay a small fee. All three universities offer both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • L'Université de Mbasewe (University of Mbasewe) is located in the outskirts of the capital city, in the south-east of the country, on the banks of Lake Ngatogo. It is known mainly for its art, literature and science departments.
  • L'Université Communale et Nationale de Ko (UCNK, often abbreviated as "Université de Ko") is located in the heart of country's second major city, Ko. It is the largest of Bashenk's three universities, and offers the greatest variety of student courses. Students may for example attend courses in history, politics, economics, languages, and a wide area of sciences, most notably medical sciences.
  • L'Université du Nord-Bashenk can be found just outside the small town of Ndoa, on the edge of the Sahara Desert, which covers the north of the country. It offers courses in agriculture, traditional land management, and various sciences.
