West Runkirr Ocean Colony

The West Runkirr Oean Colony is a Kiravian province in the Runkirr Ocean.

Geography

THe colony is situated on the Tanwood Islands, a group of several sand-clay based islands in the Western part of the Runkirr Ocean.

There are 4 inhabited islands:

• Manatee Island
• Sandston Island
• Sigmund Island
• Tomes Island

There are 2 uninhabited Islands:

• West York Island
• Bag-of-Hillstown Key

And 3 Islets:

• Kingston Islet
• Alpha Islet
• Beta Islet

The centerof the archipelago is occupied by the Tanwood Sound, that seperates the main islands.

The capital and largest city, Creamsar, is located on Manatee Island.

History

The islands were discovered by Kiravian explorers. THey were considered useless, and were not landed upon.

However, when a colonialist war broke out between Mance and Kirav, the islands had the strategic value of being in the perfect location for a supply base. Fort Iürens was built on Tomes Island, and served as a repair port, supply base, airfield, military hospital, and also as a command centre for Imperial fleets in the area. The fort was attacked by Mancen raiders, but the Mancen were forced to retreat to Sandston Island. They were later taken as prisoners, and thier descendants live on the island to this day(as Freed Enemies).

Later on in the war, Kiravians and Kirverdans were brought to the island as support personnel for the military. Others came as merchants and craftsmen to cater to the military. Settlements were built, and the island became a true colony.

After the war, the Empire had gained control of Xirya and parts of Runkirr. A base in the Ocean was no longer neccessary. Thus, Fort Iürens was decommissioned. However, the Kiravian soldiers posted there had lived in the Fort for a long time, and most were eligible to retire. Those that could retired and took up residence. Others continued thier tours of duty, and then returned.

Due to its small population and close proximity to another colony, the Islands were given as a Freely Associated Colony to Xirya.

Government

The WROC has its own local ogvernment to handle minor local affairs, but is under Xiryan administration. THe Xiryan Provincial GOvernment is responsible for the colony's foriegn representation, defence, resource management, trade, and infrastructure. The local government is in chrge of representing the colony in the Senate.
