Georg I (Georg Eduard Heinrich Leopold Maurice Alexander), (June 24, 1648 - March 23, 1665) (1663 - 1665 DE) was fifth child of King Eduard IV and Queen Frances.

Childhood

Prince Georg was born on June 24, 1648 in the Maple Bedroom at the Schloss Sigmaringen, his mother's favourite residence. The prince was almost ten pounds at birth, the heaviest of Eduard and Frances' nine children. He was his mother's favourite child, and was even-tempered with a quick grasp of knowledge. Early in 1663, his father, King Eduard, had planned on replacing his older son, Prince Eduard, and instating Georg as Heir. However, the king died before the replacement could come into effect.

Reign

Murder

On the morning of March 23, 1665, George was found stabbed to death in his bed, an exact scenario of the death of his brother, King Eduard V, less than eighteen months earlier. The Royal Guard was stumped; Eduard's alleged murderer had been hanged a year before, and the Secret Police had not caught wind of any plots on the king's life. An investigation was ordered, but no traces of any strange individuals were seen entering or leaving the palace during the night, and there was no sighting by the ground guard, of anyone climbing or entering the window. Georg was buried at the Royal Masoleum near Schloss Hanover.
