The House of Anhalt, the current Royal House of the Kingdom of Alessandri, has reigned since 716.

History of the Dynasty

The dynasty, while in nearly all cases has passed directly from father to son, has changed its name four times in the history of the dynasty. The royal family originated in Teck, a small farming village in Brunswick, where, during the War of the Sentry, an oracle led a small party of monarchists to the home of Jozef von Otmann, whose son, Kristofor, it was predicted, would rise from the slums of Alessandri and bring peace and glory to the land. Kristofor, then sixteen, was wisked away to Jetternacht, where he was installed at the Schloss Jetternacht under heavy guard. Three days later, he emerged from the palace wearing the ancient crown of Anhalt, and, according to legend, he rode into the thick of battle and single-handledly ended the war by offering the warlords a series of terms if they swore their allegiance. The warring duchies were then united into the Alessandrian Empire. Years in Alessandri are calculated in 'DE' which stands for Domine Era.

The current year is 1933.

Line of Succession to the Alessandrian throne

According to the Theodorian Laws of 1250, set down by King Adalbert I, Alessandri follows agnatic primogeniture, that is inheritance by the eldest surviving male child, with females excluded. Only males may succeed to the throne, however succession is allowed also through female line, while the females themselves do not inherit, but the sons of females do. The law allowed King Philipp II and his two brothers to be included in the line of succession. Their mother, Princess Viktoria, was skipped, but as sons through the female line, they could inherit. This is the most updated list as of 1933, the current year.

Coat of Arms

The royal family's coat of arms depicts the shield of King Kristofor I, showing the tree of knowledge and two embracing hands. The adult figures represent the church (right) and the nobles (left) and the infant seated atop the knight's head (a duplicate of the armor worn by Kristofor) represents a continuation of the monarchy through the children born, coupling with it the phrase in Latin, 'Hereditas Domini Filii' or 'Children are a heritage from the Lord.'
