5 series divisions are those divisional formations of the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought which end in the number 5.

By battalion equivalents (and hence indirectly by personnel) they are comprised of 28% Land Service fulltime regular soldiers and 72% Civil Guard parttime citizen soldiers. The series is conceived as one for armoured infantry divisions working in concert with one regular armoured and a second militia armoured infantry division each.

The divisional, armoured brigade, armoured infantry brigade and artillery brigade headquarters companies are all staffed by regulars. The artillery battalions which become organic parts of the three field brigades remain parts of the regular artillery brigade before mobilisation. All remaining units are militia.

Numbers of formations and units are given in full for the first wave and also in the formula where w = number of population wave, n = one sequence for regular forces and x = a separate sequence for regular forces.

Notes

  1. After every third wave of 100 million national population, the Coastal armoured infantry brigades are reorganised to give Bristle Island two and Braunekuste one brigade each.
  2. The Coastal Provinces provide varying companies of engineers, maintenance engineers and health troops which are organised into full battalions. Consult the Civil Guard section of provincial articles for details.
  3. Bristle Island and Braunekuste take turns providing battalions of light tanks and tracked APCs. The battalions of armoured infantry in wheeled APCs come exclusively from the former.
  4. Capital Province contributes a battalion of armoured infantry each wave, alternating with odd waves from the anglophone Bight Regiment and even waves from the francophone Régiment de Mit-en-Haut.
  5. Demi-brigades bear names only and not numbers, taking their identity from the division they belong to, e.g., Logistics Brigade of the 35th Armoured Infantry Division.
  6. While there is only one maintenance battalion in the division, from time to time or purpose to purpose it may be assigned to either or both of the engineering and logistics demi-brigades.
