Armoured infantry divisions in the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought are used as junior partners with armoured divisions or as senior partners with other infantry.

Approximately three quarters of all armoured infantry divisions are staffed primarily or exclusively by parttime CDF Civil Guard soldiers. For those in the Central Province CG consult 9 series divisions, Hochelaga CG consult 8 series divisions and all others consult 5 series divisions. The remaining quarter or so are staffed by fulltime Land Service soldiers, either in the 3 series divisions or non-standard 0 series divisions formations combining the armoured and armoured infantry brigades raised each wave as corps troops.

Below is the organisation of a typical LS armoured infantry division where italicized letters represent separate numerical series for the constituent units, the composition and number of engineering and artillery units being most susceptible to change. Armoured infantry divisions tend to have lighter armoured vehicles than armoured divisions, never having heavy tanks and often having light tanks. They are also more likely to have wheeled armoured vehicles.

Notes

  1. Demi-brigades bear names only and not numbers, taking their identity from the division they belong to, e.g., Divisional Reserve Demi-Brigade of the 63rd Armoured Infantry Division.
  2. If extra engineering or logistics battalions are permanently assigned, those respective demi-brigades become full brigades.
  3. While there is only one maintenance battalion in the division, from time to time or purpose to purpose it may be assigned to either or both of the engineering and logistics demi-brigades.
