Agwene ni Gwydion is the second daughter of Corrina of the Resurgent Dream and Immanuel of the Resurgent Dream. Until recently, she was not viewed as in line for a crown. However, when her older sister, Aiwyn of Mists, yielded the throne of the Resurgent Dream itself to claim the throne of the Islands of Mists, Agwene was granted the high throne of the Resurgent Dream.

In defiance of what was until recently a strong social taboo, Agwene is an open homosexual and makes no secret of her plans to eventually take a wife and adopt an heir. While this has created a good deal of dissent and disagreement at the tradition minded imperial court, none of her nobles have openly resisted yet.

Agwene is the sister of Aiwyn of Mists and Vicotira, Grand Duchess of Lavoisier. She is the niece of the late Danwyth of Shieldcrest, Nianki of Shieldcrest, and Beatrice, Grand Duchess of Lincoln. Agwene is fluent in English, Italian, Greek, and Latin.
