Standard Civic Constructs

Akaeia prides herself on the existance of a large number of civic constructs in all her cities. The Ketos is the public common of Akaeian cities, where festivals occur and is surrounded by most government buildings for the administration of the city. The Ketos can include the Paraklos (military parade ground) and/or the Agrenos (marketplace) of the city, but that is not a requirement. Some of the large cities have multiple Ketos's and Agrenos's. The Paraklos is the staging ground for militia exercises and military musters in the city. Barrakcs for the local garrison are typically located close by. The Agrenos is the economic center of most Akaeian cities, combining an open air marketplace with space for shops in large Aitos, long two storied collonaded galleries surrounding the Agrenos. All Akaeian cities have sewers and aqueducts, products of the numerous plagues which struck throughout Akaeian history and the result of thorough government studies into which cities survived best. All cities are equipped with baths and recreational centers, massive government granaries for the storage of grain for sieges or famines, hospitals, universities and primary educational centers, libraries, museums...
