Altoarbourea is a Kiravian Imperial Colony located in the Northern part of the Western Ocean.

History

The Novân Expedition did not visit nor sight the island province directly, but did sail through what would become its territorial waters, and noted the large fish that could be found there.

The first Kiravian to set foot on the islands was Captain Einar Ironfield of the Imperial Navy. His ship, the Avenger, on its way to resupply a Kiravian base in the Grey Sea States. The crew did not chart the island, but stayed long enough to determine that there were no natives.

The first settlers arrived in Cosciv year 2055, from the Northern Continent. They were chiefly of Kaldev, Dardev, Kirverdan, and Bòltev ancestry.

Settlements were established at Rockforest, Browntree, Asria, Korkforest, and Bottleglass. There were about 18,800 Altoarboureans. The economy revolved arounf fishing and the processing of marine sand for use in industry.

Today, the population has grown to 25,300, and most citizens still work in sand processing and fishing, but hold online service jobs or consulting occupations worked remotely.

Geography

Altoarbourea consists of 5 closely clustered islands, Irishcliff Island, Rupert's Island, Maniyork Island, Hightrees Island, and Balosa Sandbar.

With the exception of Balosa sandbar, none of the islands are more than half a kilometer apart.

The coastline is not indented, but is steep and rocky, consisting of iron-impurified brown rock. 10 feet up from the sea, an alfisolic soil type emerges abovve the cliffs, and a coniferous forest of spruce, fir, and abrovitae grows. Some sand lines areas around the cliffs, but very rarely, and strong storm currents from the south often wash it away for long periods of time.

The waters around Altoarbourea are very translucent and clear, and are pale blue in colour.

Economy

Most Altoarboureans hold jobs in both local industries like fishing, sandwork, and thatching, with secondary jobs in consulting, web hosting, scientific industries, or education via the Internet. The local currency is the Otter Saar.
