Andrei Pakhomov is the 3rd and current President of Coocoostan. He is the first from the Simonov-Pakhomov Blok and the first to be born within the borders of the country.

Childhood

Pakhomov was born in Yost(now part of Ondakastan), on July 12th, 1959. His father worked in the management of several factories in the area and was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, heavily involved in local affairs. The young Pakhomov was born into the era of the post-Stalinist thaw however and took to reading the works of people such as Lenin, Trotsky and even Samizdat editions of the work of Bukharin, a politburo member executed during the Stalinist purges. As Pakhomov grew older, he excelled in school, while clashing with communist ideology and taking exception to the policies of Brezhnev, who proved closer to Stalin than his predecessor. This was made apparent when the young Pakhomov applied to Moscow State University. In the essay he was expected to write, he openly criticized the policies of Brezhnev, as well as other politburo members for their deviation from Leninism. The authorities did not take kindly and only through the work of Pakhomov's fater, he avoided a sentence in Labour Prison and was instead sentenced to ten years of service in the Soviet Army.

Adult Life

Pakhomov applied himself intently to the army, although he was a victim of Dedovschina on numerous occasions. However, as his tormentors finished their 24 months service, he was left alone. In 1983, with Pakhomov recently having returned from Sergeant's school, his unit was deployed to Afghanistan. In early 1984, his squad was sent to rescure a convoy under attack near Gardez, south of Kabul. After about five minutes, his own unit came under fire, with the majority being killed. Junior Sergeant Pakhomov took control of the remaining members and while leaving them in safety, scoured enemy killed for anti-tank weapons, using the RPG-7 and rockets he scavenged to destroy two T-55s. After doing this and clearing the settlement the attack had come from, he moved with his unit up a nearby hill and cleared a camp of largely deserters from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan's army, despite being hit multiple times. For his actions, Pakhomov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner and the remainder of his sentence was commuted.
