A borderless country is a nation that shares no land-based borders with another country. In NationStates there are two primary types of borderless nations: (1) island countries that are completely isolated from adjacent neighbors, and (2) planet based nations. Borderless island countries may be located near other countries, and might even have tunnels or bridges that physically allow land transportation with their neighbors. Similarly, planet based nations may be located in solar systems shared with other nations or may have other means of quick or instantaneous transport (through stargates, transporters, wormholes, space bridges, and other fantastic means) to other nations, but in the absence of these technologies (or unexplained phenonema) the native environment of these nations is isolated from most major events happening in their neighbors' territory.
